Sold RCA LC1A/LC1B Speakers and RCA MI-9354 Amplifiers LOCAL PICKUP in Dallas, TX

Has Been Sold
Okay, in my opinion, this is a VERY GENEROUS deal here, folks! The seller is not wrong when he tells you it's like buying one pair and getting the other pair for free. I find it tempting and though I already have more LC-1s than I can use in my house and, on top of that, I live in PA, and even given that, I'm finding it tempting!! Obviously, it's an addiction of some sort! :-)

At any rate, the cabinets housing these LC-1s are original RCA cabinets offered back then for residential use, can't remember the model number (pretty sure it starts with MI-12...) but you can find it if you dig. The first LC-1s I ever found were in these cabinets, they're nice and though these drivers sound even better in (+or-) 10 cu. ft. cabinets, they sound amazing in these cabinets as well, good enough in fact that within 2 weeks of selling them, I was trying to buy them back, unsuccessfully, I must add.

Any of you who know me, know that I'm in love with these RCA duo-cone speakers and, for all the speakers I've spent time with in the past 50 years, I've settled on these as the best that I could possibly afford. Of course that's subjective and my opinion but I will say that Jonathan Weiss told me right after I found my first pair that I'd have to spend $30,000 to best them. Of course, back when I had my first pair, I had some other relatively highly regarded speakers I thought would do me just fine and I had a rather serious problem with our home that needed attention (and $$$) so I sold them. Like I said, I regretted it not long after letting them go.

As I've never owned or even spent any time listening to any speakers that sell for a third of $30,000 and given that Mr. Weiss is a bit of an expert (understatement?-you decide), at least in my opinion, it's something to consider. Here's a pair of speakers that he says are THAT good for, basically, $1500, seems like a steal to me and, if it weren't for me already being flush with LC-1s, I'd be on my way to Dallas ASAP and, given my workload "due to the covid", that could be very soon!

Jonathan also recommended, if possible, to try to match versions, my first pair had an LC-1 original (marked only MI-11411 on the magnet cover) and one LC-1A (MI-11411A) for the best possible sound, indicating that there was a sonic difference. I happened to have a friend who had an extra original and we did a trade. Honestly, I couldn't hear a difference but having the drivers match, was, I thought a good, idea, given how different the originals look compared to the later versions, as the originals lack the bumps and the tweeter diffuser.

That "RCA Theater Sound" sign is very cool too, I've only ever seen a couple of them in collections and one for sale on eBay that didn't go cheap. The amps are VERY cool in appearance but I have zero experience with them but have to think that, along with the rack and the sign, that they're easily worth their package cost of $1500, at least.

Now, let me assure you that I do not know the seller personally, nor do I have anything to gain by his sale of these items, just putting it (my opinion) out there! As long as both tweeters are working, I would even go so far as to say that I'd buy the speakers for half the package sale price ($1500), should you buy this package and decide that you only want to keep the amps, with OR without the cabinets! You must listen to them for a couple months though, before I'd do that to you!! ;-)

C'mon Nate, haven't you sold more than enough of those beautiful SUTs you make to buy this package??!!??

Okay, I've bloviated enough about this, I wish the seller the best of luck with his sale and want to commend him for offering his friends an amazing deal, it's really generous IMO and I hope one of you take him up on it before it goes to some other forum. More and more of these have been going overseas in recent years but, fortunately, it's taken this long for the folks on the other side of either "pond" to discover just how good these are. If you've always wanted to try these, at this price YOU CANNOT LOSE, period.
Press on and enjoy the music!

Wow, thank you for your thoughts and your kind words nelsress. I hope these go to a home that can appreciate them as much as you do. I'm still hoping someone from the Haven will pick these up and have not listed them elsewhere. Such a great group of people here and I've gained so much from just reading about all the fantastic projects and opinions. I will donate 5% of proceeds to the Haven to help maintain the site. Stay safe.

I like the idea of these going somewhere within this tight-knit group. Even if they are split up, I’d like to think that there might be a chance they might eventually reunite. Either way, they would go to enthusiasts that appreciate what they are. Interested to see how this plays out.

UPDATE - Sold to a local Haven member. Thank you for everyone's interest and positive feedback. I appreciate the solid community here and as promised, I've donated 5% of the proceeds to HiFiHaven to help maintain the site. It was wonderful meeting the local Havenite buyer; he's a great guy with similar interests and just a wealth of knowledge and experience with vintage audio. I'm very happy these went to a great home where they will be appreciated and used to their fullest abilities. Wonderful to meet someone with such similar interests! Looking forward to many future listening sessions.

Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate you letting me bring over the Garber amp to see what that pairing was like - made the decision to purchase easier. Hope to see you sharing the depth of your knowledge here (and hopefully over some listening sessions!).
