And here I almost deleted it because I was in "a mood" when I wrote that. Probably drank too much or something.
If I helped pique your interest in the SS-m7s from my old comments, I hope they continue to make you happy. I don't criticize the old gear I've had out of spite or petulance, believe it or not I actually BELIEVE there is a lot better sound out there with certain gear. Just as the people recommending gear that isn't my flavor believe what they do, too...so nothing against different opinions. But I think we should all welcome opinionated beliefs and just pick that which matches up with our own experience, and then roll with it and have fun with it.
But there is a fundamental difference between your opinion, and those of so many others. Yours is borne of actual first-hand experience. You have made a point to become informed about the subject before presenting it, whereas oftentimes others merely parrot something somebody said to somebody else without ever actually listening to anything in person.
We SHOULD all welcome differing opinions as something to think about, but it seems to me that merely rolling with whatever matches our own beliefs leads to stagnation, and the sort of tribalism that is seen in so many places, especially on the web. Certainly, everybody is entitled to an opinion. Just as certainly, not all opinions should be considered by others. But expecting the population at large to act in an intellectual and considered manner is asking too much. And it's getting harder all the time to separate the wheat from the chaff, as it were.
