Anyone have one of these yet? Placed an order for mine yesterday. I'm a fan of the Sumiko sound. I'm coming from a Blue Point No. 2 . I didn't realize dealers in the states offer a trade in program for old Sumiko carts. Made the decision to stay Sumiko pretty easy.

I had a Blackbird in my possession that needed a new cantilever and unfortunately I passed it along. I always loved the naked look of that cartridge and wish I had been able to have listened to it.

I also had a Talisman in good working order that a friend absolutely had to have. So another I missed out on hearing.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy yours and I look forward to your impressions.

What differentiates the no. 3 over the 1 and 2?

They had me at threaded bolt holes.

I don't know all of the differences. I read a few reviews that basically said they improved even more on the Blue Point No. 2 and that was almost enough to make me buy it right there. The Blue Point No. 2 was a fantastic cart in my system. So good I was going to buy another one or have mine retipped, but Sumiko doesnt offer that service. The Blue Point No. 2 can still be found but with the trade in program you can get the No. 3 for less than a new No. 2. Plus @airdronian mentioned threaded bolt holes!! Sold!

Well that has to be the easiest cart I have ever installed! Fleetwood Mac - Tusk Album playing currently. Can't wait for break in to be over

So, you've had a month. Howz it sound?
I'm also a fan of the Sumiko house sound.
Can you hear the differences from the II?
Listening right now actually. This cart seems less laid back with more detail than the 2. The bass also has more definition. There isn't more bass it's just better in terms of quality. Still retains the Sumiko sound though it just feels like a step up the ladder from the 2 to the 3. 100% happy I went this way.

Nice.
I've tried various Shures, Ortos, a Grado or 2 and a few others.
I bought a Talisman Vitruoso DTI retip & never looked back.

Everyone likes something different & the Sumikos work for me.
Lots of positive reviews of the P.T Special.

Agreed. There are a lot of good options out there. Plenty that I am sure would best my Sumiko. However in my system with my VPI table / Arm / Phono stage I feel like I am getting everything the Blue Point 3 has to offer.
