SW1X DAC

I often check the various audio forums to learn which DACs are getting people the most excited, so I know most of the big names. Most of the time, I come to the conclusion that many of these DACs would be <at best> a sideways move from my current DAC.
You are totally right. if you want to make further investments, it should be done at the transport end.

It's cute that you guys are still using CeeDee's. With an amp from the 50's, Altec speakers and Garard 301 turntable, I like retro as well but not with digital transports.

Sonore UltrRendu for me. Anyone using a renderer they're happy with?

This cave is the domain of Luddites. Tread softly.

I only stream and have been happy with Node 2i + Allo Shanti PSU.

Indeed, where All Things Streaming amount to nothing more than an extreme annoyance, it might work about 80% of the time, but no more. Absolutely horrid UX, and JHC... all that sloppy fucking AF coding!

Sonore microRendu for me, as well as RPi 4B running Moode. Both work 100% of the time, with a JRiver local library server, and also Qobuz and Spotify from the cloud (as we veer wildly off-topic from the SW1X).

I use an Arcam rPlay and bought a linear PS from Hong Kong. It was a definite improvement.

Please post about the mod.

+1, the Polish external PSU adapter board, or the one out of the U.K. ... or something else entirely?
I used the UK board. Purchased the shanti from this US distributor:

Super easy. No soldering involved. Unscrew and disconnect original board. Pop in the UK adapter board. Close up the Node and you're off and running.

I simplified my question.
The Sonore microRendu (and the ultraRendu too) does Ethernet in and USB out, and runs their own Linux OS-based software called Sonicorbiter.

So no it does not replace the Audiophilleo, it replaces the Raspberry Pi, assuming one has the ability to connect to the network via Ethernet and not WiFi, and the DAC (or the DDC) in use has a USB input.

I have an dead ART Legato SPDIF convertor that I just loved. Unfortunately I can't get a hold of the small manufacturer for service. He disapeared and stopped responding about the beginning of covid... so who knows?

I liked it because it was designed from the ground up to pass a very low jitter low- rez, non-upsampled signal with a very well though out power supply.

I cant find another unit like it. I'm using a cheapo Douk Audio which seems to be universally liked on the intraweb. I think it's OK for now but would like to find a Legato knock off.

I'm not sold on the ABBAS SPDIF units. Do things really need tubes? Looks too complicated as well.

I don't recall his cause of death, but there will be no more new Legato DDCs coming out of ART Audio. :( Mine is still going strong - possibly because I don't use it year-round. At the same time I bought my Legato, I bought a DDC from Ciunas Audio that I decided to keep as a backup in case the Legato died. Well, the backup Ciunas DDC died and the manufacturer is no longer in business and doesn't reply to emails. I don't know if he is alive.

I bought a CDT recently and I've been rediscovering my CD collection, so I've only used my Legato a couple times in the past 2 months.
