Also, I wonder, should I change the title of this thread to include Abbas as well?
Just wanted to see what other people think about that.

I was thinking the same thing, rather long ago. A title change is much easier than splitting off all of the Abbas posts into an Abbas thread, but we could do that too if preferable. Also, I wonder, should I change the title of this thread to include Abbas as well?

I'll take that under consideration.Abbas doesn't post prices for the public. Best to email him and ask.
I emailed AbbasI'll take that under consideration.
Anyone else know the price?
Mmm, I think it's important to keep them together to preserve the back story and interplay between the two brands. My 2 cents.I like the idea of having a dedicated Abbas thread since clearly there's some bad blood between him and the folks at SW1X.
I agree and since there are a bunch of other NOS style DACs discussed here too, maybe just a thread title change to "Non-oversampling DACs" or something similar is the ticket?Mmm, I think it's important to keep them together to preserve the back story and interplay between the two brands. Around $6300 USD, but this was last year and may have increased.I'll take that under consideration.

Yikes. No wonder you don’t see the $500 DAC boards on eBay anymore.Around $6300 USD, but this was last year and may have increased.
Yeah, I've been looking for one of those to put in place of my existing dac in my office.Yikes. No wonder you don’t see the $500 DAC boards on eBay anymore.
You might want to ask Pedja over at Audial if he’s going to release more kits. His kits use TDA1541 and are supposedly very good soundingYikes. No wonder you don’t see the $500 DAC boards on eBay anymore.
I like the DAC I have. The "A" is for ABBAS.You might want to ask Pedja over at Audial if he’s going to release more kits. His kits use TDA1541 and are supposedly very good sounding
If I change the thread name, will the URL change? I ask because this thread has been shared out to some places and I wouldn't want those links to be broken.I agree and since there are a bunch of other NOS style DACs discussed here too, maybe just a thread title change to "Non-oversampling DACs" or something similar is the ticket?
Your thread, your choice.
Yes, the thread title is part of the URL, I have no idea if a redirect would automatically occur or not, thats a question for a site admin. If I change the thread name, will the URL change? I ask because this thread has been shared out to some places and I wouldn't want those links to be broken.
Abbas confirmed that the 3.2 signature ($7000) is about twice the cost of a 3.2SE ( $3800) with some variability depending on parts and tubes. The one he posted about on his blog is in the $7600-8k range.Around $6300 USD, but this was last year and may have increased.
As an update, it does sound like Abbas will return to selling kits. He had some hiccups with a customer which led to getting in trouble with Ebay to no fault of his own, but he told me he will sell kits again soon. The discontinuation of the DIY DAC boards was two factors:
1) a large increase in the number of orders for finished DACs since 2020 made it impossible to maintain sales and support for the DIY boards
2) the majority of those purchases came from Russian customers and not Western ones. He commented that Western customers are much more likely to want finished products (no assembly required). He no longer sells to Russian customers, so...
Abbas Kit is en route! Woot.Welp, I'll be getting an Abbas kit in the next couple weeks to put together for my office system. Excited to put it up against the Audio GD!
I'll likley order an I2S hat for my Raspberry pi as well to give the Audio GD the best signal I can give it. From my reading the I2S really punches up the Audio GD M7S.
Please do provide the update. Good luck with the build!Abbas Kit is en route! Woot.
I will say though that the I2S and reclocker to the audio GD upped that DAC by a huge margin. The imaging in my Lynne Olson Ariels is unreal in my office now. Will be fun to put the Abbas kit in once it's ready and also hear the TDA1541, since I have never heard that DAC chip.
