I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out.

These little Beyerdynamic mic input trafos are known for their good performance as phono step up transformers, and I think they're pretty great performers for the price!

I used a smaller enclosure than usual, and I like how it worked out. Lots of performance crammed into a tiny box!

I think these have a real different presentation, a little more technical, perhaps? Probably more “accurate” than the UTC - I bet these would measure better!

You know my thoughts on measurements.

From your description, the Beyer would be more like the Microtran?

Do you feel that it opens a different window to the music, has a different presentation than either the UTC or the Microtran?

What I like about the UTC is how it conveys the emotions of the music.

Yeah, I think this one’s closer to the Microtran than the UTC. They all sound a little different and will pair differently with different cartridges... but I don’t think we’re talking about any major revelations of perspective, here.

I’ve built with these Beyers before and the first guy absolutely loved his, and still uses it daily as far as I know.

Not a bad punt at all.

Definitely inside the 10 yard line.

Pondering whether it is sufficiently different to add to the group SUT review I'm working on.

Appreciate our conversation via PM this morning.

From our discussion, the Beyer and the Microtran are going to be very similar. I would be getting a very similar sound.

Think I'll pass this time and get the first pair of @dave slagle Autoformers to replace the dual volume pots in the Line Stage Preamp.
