Tangent RS-2 (Audio ADD strikes again)

With things still in chaos in the Man Cave (until my Nephews get their butts over here to take the sectional out of the Man Cave ;)), the Tangent RS2, KingKo KA-101, Schiit Saga and Modi Uber and Sonos Connect Living Room system has been pulling primary listening duty.

It has been fulfilling its role splendidly.

I am pleasantly surprised at how musical and involving this system sounds. My Bride (very sensitive and critical of clinical sounding systems and any harshness) is listening more and states that this system is vastly superior to the B&W CDM1 based system.

You can hear soooooo much further into the music. Little nuances and details become very apparent within the overall fabric of the music.

I am really very pleased with this little system. :)

And the RS4's are up and running! The system has been off for a few days, so I'm letting it warm up before making any concrete judgements.

Oh, and I'm running them presently with some VERY thin, 70's vintage, grey sheathed speaker wire. Being British and of the era, they lack binding posts. They give you your choice of either banana plugs (spaced too far apart for the double bananas used in North America), or a weird connector, with two flat spades at 90 degrees from each other. The gent threw in this wire, so I figured I'd give them a try. Certainly are easy to use, if nothing else.

Excellent! Looking forward to your impressions. :)

Positive, neutral or negative. ;)

Checking in with "Living Room System Satisfaction Status". ;)

The Tangent RS2 driven by the Schiit Saga - KingKo KA-101 combination continues to please. The new tube set has settled in and sounds very good.

Level of satisfaction remains high. :)

I have the original Tangent stands, which look very much like those. There are brad-point spikes, about 1/4" tall, projecting through the top plate, on which the speakers sit.

@Ernie do you have a picture of those stands? I'd love to find a pair!

@TubeHiFiNut are you still loving your RS2's?

I recently picked up a mint condition pair of RS2s and they are joining my RS4s, RS6s as well as TM1s. I used to have RS8 speakers but they didn't have that Tangent sound. I think at the very end that they lost their way and made a turntable that wasn't very good (someone called it a disaster) and a pre and amp that apparently was also not very good.

Anyone know what RS2 IMPROVED means? Seems to have the same drivers, maybe they improved the crossovers?

Mr. Prime Minister

Whatever happened to your RS4 and grey wire experiments?

:)

@Berkeley Time to get out the wire coat hangers? 😁

The old Audax Bextrene cone woofers used paper voice coil formers.
Be careful not to exceed their maximum cone excursion limits.
