That itch.

I’m leaning towards a new cart for my wife’s turntable. Which sits alongside my turntable. It’s a full auto linear tracking Mitsubishi LT-30 that she doesn’t need to touch the arm on. Something totally opposite to the Ortofon LOMC on my turntable. MM or MI. I was thinking Grado but I’ve never quite loved any Grados I’ve heard. Liked a few. Maybe haven’t given them a proper chance.
Depending on what you want to spend, on the SoundSmith Otello or Carmen would be nice.
Often when I get The Itch I end up on Craigslist.

Neat! :

Ooh, a home for my FR-24....

Luxman and Luxman 👍👍👍

I was feeling totally content with my system until a friend let me take home a Still Point Aperture to try out. Rocked my world. I bought it from him immediately. It replaced several other acoustic panels I had and did a much better job. Not to mention is much more attractive.

Truthfully if that Luxman wasn't 2 hours away it'd be here. I've had my eye on one of those for ages, though I fear the vacuum system would be a nightmare.

My Christmas tree in my little house in Michigan had a very positive affect on room acoustics. This plant is a smaller rubber plant, but it does sit right in front of one of my speakers.
I've noticed that as well, especially the absolutely monster Christmas trees my ex used to insist upon - 10' tall and nearly as wide!

Can't remember if you're still running the Juicy Music phono stage. If you are, there's some tubes out there calling your name.

If you have the gear for it, there's always tubes. :)
I’ve found that getting the V1 12AT7 right on the Tercel II has been unreasonably difficult. Use anything the least bit noisy or microphonic, and you’re going to have a bad time.

I’ve landed for the moment on a French red-tipped Conn-branded Amperex I pulled from an organ.

Hey @JohnVF,

I know the itch of which you speak but I have been finding sweet relief in another sort of scratch, lately...

I've been in a sell-down mode for the past few months and it is super satisfying to see those closed-auction sales! Yeah, shipping's a PITA but the extra cash and the reclaimed space is all gravy, baby!

I still have a itch for the Olson clone! lol

I’m actually almost out of things to sell, but congrats! I know that awesome feeling of leaving some of the clutter and weight behind. Over the last year I cut my collection by about 3/4, but a friend did the sellling for a cut, and the chance to play with my gear until it sold. Everybody was happy and I know longer have so much stuff! I’ve even acquired a bit of self control through the process.

Just did some rather minor itch scratching - ordered a stepped attenuator to replace the volume pot in the Anthem Pre-1. Oh, and a fancy idler wheel for the Dual 1219. Whether I keep the 1219 or it goes that needed to be done and the nice one was little different in price, plus is made in Canada, sold in Canadian dollars and doesn't need to cross any borders getting to me.

Beautiful turntable. I’ve been thinking of scratching an itch with one of the EAT Jo No5 carts.

What would you hang the EAT on? They look really sweet, but they're also big and heavy.
I’d put it on the Jelco TK850 on my Merrill table. It could handle that. Uses standard headshells and with the EAT carts being Ortofon based VTA might not change when switching from my current modified Ortofon.

So the TK850 can handle a cart of that mass? None of my Jelcos could balance a cart that heavy even with the lightest shell ever created. The 9g MC-20 Super was the absolute limit. Of the arms I have about these days the Audiocraft to manage it, the FR-24 MkII (I've a lot of weights with mine) and the ATP-12T. EPA? No way without hanging a honking auxiliary weight off the arse end. .

I definitely get that itch. I've been looking at the gear in the basement and thinking about what I want to play with. Lori says no more gear in the bedrooms, though.
