The Classical/Early Music Christmas music thread

I know little about contemporary Christmas music but I’m deep into the classical end of the spectrum so I thought I’d start yet another Christmas music thread. Here’s today’s offering.

Hector Berlioz (Composer), Charles Dutoit (Conductor), Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (Orchestra), Choeur de l'Orchestre symphonyque de Montréal (Orchestra), Susan Graham (Performer), François Le Roux (Performer), Philip Cokorinos (Performer), Andrew Wentzel (Performer), Gordon Getz (Performer), Susanne Mentzer (Performer)

I found this box set in the lot of records I got from a friend some months ago. I didn't think too much of it until today when I actually opened it and saw both the content and the performer list. Lovely stuff and a great addition to the Christmas collection.

What year is the cutoff?
Given the thread title it doesn't seem to me that the cutoff is more "genre" than "year". Sure, we've been posting really early stuff, but that is just because its probably what we have the most of - speaking for myself only, of course.

That looks great! The Heinrich Schutz Choir? Gotta love it!

(my spell checker kept trying to ‘correct’ and change Schutz to Schnoz evidently confusing it with the Jimmy Durante Choir)

Something amusing about the box set - it is a three-disc set, but it contains four of them. What?! Somehow there are two copies of Disc 1. Oops! BTW, I'd love to hear the Jimmy Durante Choir. That would really be something!

Ditto.

no year cut-off as evidenced by this gem from some of my favorite Canadians.
