The coffee drinkers club thread.

Well I couldn't take it anymore and finally just now ordered myself a Technivorm Moccamaster KBGV in turqoise. This will replace my Oxo 8-Cup. Unfortunately I'll have to slum it and use my Bodum grinder till I can order a Baratza grinder in a month or so. Fingers crossed it's all that I hope it will be. A local friend has both the Moccamaster and Baratza and also happened to come from an Oxo 8-Cup and swears the Moccamaster/Baratza combo is a game changer for drip coffee. Can't wait!
I'm sure you will love it. Correct brewing temperature is the game changer.

I'm coming from the Oxo 9 cup, and I'm having much better luck with the Technivorm. Does your KBGV have the half-pot option? I use that most of the time as, well, I usually make just over a 1/2 pot of coffee. It slows the drip through the grounds a bit. I find that it makes the perfect 1/2 pot of coffee, consistently, every time. Another thing I really like is that the pot itself is very easy to clean. The Oxo 9 cup carafe had the smallest opening, and I had to use a sponge on a stick to get into it. Plus..I hated how the Oxo turned on and off, it was not intuitive, truly bizarre in how they complicated "on off" by trying to simplify it and make it 'cool, and I never used the programming, just another needless complication for me.

The Technivorm is basic and works great. Nothing extraneous. Plus it looks cool. Nice color choice!

Yes, I can do half pot, though I drink a lot so the full pot option is best for me. I also had the same cleaning issue with both Oxo products I had and used a sponge on a stick cleaning tool found in the baby food isle at the grocery store.

I like the simplicity of the Technivorm though I do have mixed feelings about all the plastic bits... which ideally should last a while but still, unboxing and seeing that the shower head is just a loose-ish press-on was a bit disappointing.
