My place has more than doubled in value since 2016. It is insane. I am glad I bought a place when I was younger as I would never be able to buy one now, at least nowhere I'd want to live. Denise and I were able to go out and do some social distancing yesterday. Just above freezing when we left and I don't think it ever reached 50. Quite windy at the higher elevations, so we figured 150 miles was enough for the day.

It was unseasonably warm yesterday and everybody was out walking, biking, smiling. There's an air of positivity I haven't sensed in a long time.
Saturday was nice too and I was amazed at how many folks were masked and distancing outside on the lakefront when we took some Divvy bikes for a ride. I was quite impressed!

Now we’re talking. If only I could get my shot.
Given how a few of us may have gained some *cough* extra COVID poundage *cough*, that is probably not the best idea... 😁

I just got an appointment this afternoon through Ascension. It's at 12 Mile High (aka Macomb Community College), building K. 1:30pm Friday afternoon. I don't know if you are affiliated with them, but I logged in via my portal* and found there were appointments tomorrow, Thursday and Friday, although they are filling up fast.

* In case you can use Ascension (or if anyone else in the area can)...I logged in, clicked Appointments on the left, and that opened a page with a drop-down where I could choose the type of appointment. Choose Other, and it gives the COVID vaccine as one of the choices. From there you get to a page where you can schedule your appointment. They require you to bring ID,

Looks as though they are also doing Saturday and Sunday.

Damn. It's a weird feeling, after all this, to see the light at the end of the tunnel. My better half gets hers Thursday through Beaumont, and mine Friday with Ascension. If her possible new job (she has three more "interviews" this week with various attorneys in the departments she'll be working with--she's pretty sure she'll get it) doesn't start until May, she may burn a week of vacation time and we'll head somewhere for a week, masked up and ready to rock. 😁

Yes, my doctor is part of the Ascension network and I went into my patient portal but couldn’t find a link to sign up for a vaccine.

We moved from my hometown almost 16 years ago, there's no way we can go back and expect to have a house.
I hear ya. Even the house I had 13 years ago on the other side of town (just a few miles from @Olson_jr) would be unobtainable now. The only way I'd get a house now (anywhere) is if I take on a new full-time job and keep moonlighting with my present work. And life's too short to "start over" and get a week's vacation at a new employer when I want to travel, not be stuck working until I'm 80.

It's kind of buried...does your login look like this? My portal is through Athena Health.

Maybe I can help you navigate if you have the same portal...

I just sent a private message to @JoeThePop with some screenshots from Ascension's portal. If anyone else in SE Michigan needs help navigating that mess (it's a bit tricky to find), let me know and we can add you to the conversation.

Heh, yeah, I just replied about the location. 12 Mile High...aka Macomb County Community College.

My better half's dad had vaccination there--he was picked up by shuttle from the parking lot and taken to Building K. Requires ID, insurance card and prescription bottles. They have a good process going.

I haven't heard a peep out of Meijer, and Rite Aid and CVS had no openings.

I tried at Rite Aid again this morning and they hadn't updated to the new guidelines, so they wouldn't let me schedule.
Also no word from Meijer or CVS.

I keep hoping that I'll be going on a just-before-closing Haagen-Dazs run to the Walgreens at the end of the block and they'll pull me aside and give me the day's leftover vaccine while there. So far no luck (except with the Haagen Dazs).

That reminds me of Eastern Washington.

I didn't know that the AstraZeneca vaccine wasn't approved for use down south. Good trial results though.

I read about the blood clot thing yesterday- it was something like 25 cases across 20 million vaccinations, which is actually lower than the natural incidence of blood clotting disorders amongst the general population so they don't even know that they're linked... and if they are, its a one in a million incident compared to apx 1 in 100 for death from the 'rona if you get it above a certain age.

Anyway, looks headed for quick approval here to add to the other ones, in the race towards total vaccination by June-July-sh. Fingers crossed.

BTW, my confirmation has me down for the Pfizer vaccine. I'll take one jab to go, please!

It sucks that so many of you guys are having to chase down your own vaccines. Really, really sucks.

Good luck to everybody.
The chase wasn't too bad. Since my better half got in somewhat easily, I figured I would try. What I didn't notice until today was that my health system opened up new appointments this morning--checking yesterday (Sunday), there was nothing available. When I checked today, first time, they had one opening for Tuesday, a handful for Thursday and nearly the full day Friday.

I'd take that opportunity. No problem.
If I can claim you as a dependent, maybe I could squeak you in on my appointment later this week. 😁
