My wife is supposedly driving 3 hours to get the jab on Monday, the only appointment she could find. Which I think is silly but she really wants to get on with it. She better get the 7 bars of reception after that.

*I have no interest if providing anything to our whacked nut-job of a governor, Gov. Nuisance, with his lack of scientific data, and, Rules for Thee, But Not For Me perspective. Too many liberal whacks with too much power screwing the economy [/political comment here]
From Deadhead to bitching about liberals. What would Jerry say?

Jerry might say "For me, the lame part of the Sixties was the political part, the social part. The real part was the spiritual part." and I"d apply that to this thread and why it was started and allowed to ramble on for a year. We're in the midst of a global ...catastrophe? Global...weirdness? Global .... rearrangement? Global... reckoning around this thing we can't see but which has happened to everybody. This thing impacts all of our lives, everywhere, regardless of who you are and what you believe. There's no escaping it. For me, being in Bogota for 7 weeks and seeing how everybody was impacted in such a similar way, was, in a way, almost spiritually awakening...seeing how this thing has put us all under the same circumstances and then seeing how people just kind of get along to get along there. It depresses me coming back here and seeing how its been politicized and how that keeps trying to rear itself in this thread where most of us are just kind of enjoying a place to chat about it, to let off some built up annoyance about it, and to even laugh about it, because what else can you do?

Which is to repeat ,again, please keep politics out of this thread. Left, right, whatever, there's plenty of other places to go sow that toxic bullshit. We're here as friends to chat about this prevalent annoyance, nobody's mind about anything is going to or needs to change from it.

My first Dead show was in 1972, with hundreds and hundreds to follow, mostly recorded and freely shared. In all of it, I was a born/raised/sworn conservative. There were actually quite a lot of us.
What would Jerry say?
I feel he was, they were, a normal people.

We're now in an ethical dilemma here. Seems like the reason my wife qualifies to get the jab is that she listed herself as a smoker.

"You don't smoke"
"I do, too"
"They mean the other smoking"
"It just said smoking. I smoke"
"You know what they meant"
"Yeah well those people chose to smoke why should they be rewarded for it?"
"..."
"Exactly. And anyway I have a whole bunch of other conditions they didn't list so I'm getting it."
"So why do I qualify then?"
"I listed you as a smoker"
"I'm going to qualify in a week because I work in media"
"If you qualify for that I qualify as a smoker"

The virus somehow manages to find new ways to be absurd every day.

In my neck of the woods the limited supply of AstraZeneca that was released went as far as individuals with the birth year just prior to mine. No disappointment, the amount of the supply pretty much guaranteed it wouldn't make it far enough.

Even so, the prospect of perhaps getting it sometime in May is a lot better than September which was an earlier estimate. Once supply increases I believe there are plans for mass immunization sites and rolling it out to Medical clinics. The sooner the better, as apparently the variants are making up something like 11% of new cases now.
Announced yesterday was an increase in cases again. Heading the wrong way. Six days after my quoted post above, variants are now 19% of new cases compared with 11% previously. Most are the British variant. The first detection of the Brazilian variant was noted March 14th, resulting from travel. By the 24th we now have our first two cases of community spread Brazilian.

Time to start selling 3rd Wave t-shirts.

Well, somehwat ironically, we were just coming off of the *China Flu pandemic in 1972. There are still elements of that late 60's China flu pandemic in current flu virii.

*sorry, but that is/was the official name of it.

Stop trolling this thread. We've managed to keep it going a year and all it takes is one person being an asshole to ruin it. And that happens to be the one rule we have here.

There have been several hints at you to stop. Hints didn't work so I'll be more blunt.

My better half got her first Moderna jab yesterday--just a sore arm and slight headache yesterday and today.

I just got back from being Pfizered. Nurse said lots of fluids. So what's it gonna be--whisky sours or margaritas? Red, red wine? 😁

Weird thing in both of us--I'd swear we turned a bit red for the first hour or so after the shot. I was looking a bit rosy in the car on the way home with the windows and roof open. I also have a slight headache, but it could be eyestrain from trying to read the phone while waiting. Arm feels weird but the bandage is still on it.

Excited to get my first poke of Pfizer tomorrow. We are headed quickly in the wrong direction in Michigan. Over 5,000 confirmed cases reported the last two days after being consistently under a thousand per day less than a month ago. And my daughter's High School just got shut down again.
