With the nice spring weather upon us, I figured the time was right to get a bunch of Haven folks together. Seeing as there are so many of us not too far from Detroit, it makes sense to meet there. My thought is that we Center things around dinner at the iconic Sign of the Beefcarver in Royal Oak, and maybe add some fun activities before or after. For instance, one of my favourite record stores is not too far up Woodward from there.

So who is interested?IMG_3020.webp

If I am not traveling, I'd be able to put in an appearance on one of the weeks I'm home. Wish we had a larger place as I'd offer up a place to hang out afterwards. There are a handful of wrecka stows near Royal Oak (Solo probably the closest, but a few others not too far away). We have a few on the east side also (Melodies & Memories, Trax 'n' Wax right by my place, and the place up in Mt. Clemens that got national notoriety for having an all-Whipped Cream theme to the store, which I can't recall the name of). I haven't shopped the local stores in years so I don't know what remains anymore.

My youngest lives in Ferndale with some college friends of hers.

Looks like I'll have to pass--we leave on the 16th after work for a road trip.

I am sitting in my office right now which is ~3000ft away, a 10-min. walk. I’ll see what I can do…

Ha, it reminds me of a funny story. We had dinner with some friends on a beautiful summer evening. After, it was suggested we hit a brewery that was about a half-mile walk. I was a bit concerned about my friend as he was not what one would call a hiker. Anyways, we had to cross a railroad embankment on the way and he uttered, "Jesus H. Christ, I did not think there would be hills involved."

Now, Mugs and I frequently use that phrase.

Road trip confusion, my mistake--this one, we don't leave until the 18th, as we're avoiding the "Fri/Sat tax" on rooms along the way. Can't spend much time but can certainly pop in for a few minutes at some point during the day on the 17th, amidst the packing and prepping the road trip vehicle and all the last-minute stuff at mi casa.

I have the trip in June, another later in July (Colorado), one the third week in August (rally, but starts locally), possibly two in September (one with kiddo out in Colorado and Utah, the other a rally from Boston to Bangor and back if I decide to do it). Hard to keep them all straight. 😕
