Aww Mine is still going strong eight years later.

I am a bit sad, but I'm not sure I can do anything in the way of repair, so maybe I'll just buy another. I thought since one channel still functions that I might use this one in my mono setup. Perhaps I can figure out a way to simply "unplug" the right channel circuitry. The amp appears in every way under the hood to be a dual mono jobbie.

Admittedly I don't play very many mono records, with any frequency (pun intended).

an addendum to my last comments:

I saw online that someone had problems with the instantaneous mute relay having dirty contacts, so I removed the cover and cleaned the contacts with deoxit. No difference.

I then visually inspected the outputs more closely and noticed a crappy looking solder joint where the speaker out terminals are mounted to a small PCB. When I jiggled the speaker to connector, the channel would come in and go back out.

I touched up the solder joint, and the right channel was operating - until I jiggled the right channel neg speaker connector. The channel dropped out again. This was repeatable, so I cleaned all 4 terminals with deoxit.

Voila! All is well. I've never had a amp speaker terminal output connection fail before. This is a new one for me!

I'll keep an eye on my bench TP-21 as it uses a similar backplane for the output terminals.

This is an early Tripath amp that I built from a kit in '06. The fella I sold it to says it's still going strong and offered it back to me since his system is going through a major change of the multi-channel AV variety.

after checking in on the huge TPA3116 thread on AK i bought an Aiyima A07 TPA 3255 on amazon (inspired by a post from @Poultrygeist ). tiny little black box but so far a lot of power and clarity. i put it in my bedroom system (pulled out my amp camp amp). if it does well i'll look into trying another power supply. i have the TI evaluation board TPA 3250 (garage system) so have experienced the higher powered TI board already.

has the 3116 sound; very low distortion, clear as a bell--just more power

and an update: my amp developed a screeching sound this afternoon after using it for about a week. turned it off, waited 5 minutes and bad sound gone. but then turned on an hour later and screech came back

luckily i bought from amazon so easy to return, which is what i'm doing. overall, i think this amp is worth taking a chance on, but make sure you have easy returns

Sean at Zero Fidelity had a quality issue with his Aiyima. In his video they said they were aware of the issue. I’d hope they’re not just pumping these units out without QC.

welp, i'm now thinking the screech was from my preamp (a korg B1), not the aiyima; sorry i sent it back...
