Thermionics - new office space / office system

Thermionics

Post Whore In Training
Last week, they moved my entire organization out of the main company campus into a downtown peripheral building. As a result, I ended up with a smaller office (but still an office - yay!), but that gave me a chance to optimize the space accordingly.

Shown:
  • Pass ACA 1.1 monoblocks
  • Linaeum LFX speakers (on cheap & cheerful DIY stands)
  • Millett Starving Student headphone amp
12713

Shown:
  • Technics SP15 (home-build plinth) / Sumiko FT3 w/ FPE armboard / Denon DL103r (Paradox Pulse body / Soundsmith line contact)
  • Aikido LV preamplifier w/ AD797 HQMC phono stage and external PSU
  • Gigawork LM-DAC3 v9 (USB connected to work machine
  • Dayton Audio Titanic Mk1 10" sub
12714

While the 8W that the ACAs provide isn't enough for a larger room when paired with the Linaeums, in a near-field environment, and especially when reinforced with the powered subwoofer, the pairing is very good. Even with the big monitor stand and LCD monitors occupying the space in-between the speakers, the Linaeums still do a decent job of imaging (although I'm sure it would be way better without the monitors). The subwoofer gets me down to a legitimate 30Hz, although I can't turn it up very loud or I annoy my neighbors!

What an opportunity - the freedom to put a system in your office space - and you did a fantastic job of it!

Great mix of stuff and even a turntable. Nicely done.

Thanks for all the compliments - means a lot coming from this motley crew. :)

It'll last as long as I'm in my own office, but at some point in the next 5 years, they'll move me to open floorplan [boooo!].

Very well done, don’t be surprised if you move fellow workers to start their own system! That Aikido looks right at home, almost like a custom rack mount setup. Great colors too.

It's a Welborne Labs chassis I picked up in a scratch & dent sale about 20 years ago. Works great for the Aikido amp (plenty of space + venting).
