Today's Classical Music Playlist

Love this piece. Have you heard Jim Hall’s version with Paul Desmond, Chet Baker (!), Ron Carter and Roland Hanna on CTI? Just terrific. I’ll spin it this weekend. Excellent later life Baker, btw.
I have the reissue of Concierto. Should spin that sometime soon.

Just found a benefit to my messing around with my 70's TT and using a conical stylus.

Was disappointed when I got the album below due to all the noise - it wasn't in good shape even after two or three cleanings, despite looking pristine. Today on this rig it's quite listenable. Hurray for older tech. Maybe two tables isn't such a bad idea after all.

Last weekend I quite enjoyed spinning classical LP's from my meager collection, and decided to look around for more. Shops in the area are closed but the prices I've seen before weren't enticing.

I made contact with a fellow thru another audio site, apparently he is selling off a large collection. Finally I got prices I could live with, and my initial shipment arrived yesterday. Today I managed to clean about 15 of them, one of which is shown below. All are from the same collection, the original owner signed his name and date acquired on the label, which range from 1966 to 1983 so far. Most in the mid 70's.

There won't be any rarities here I'm told, I don't mind as these are for playing, not flipping. The cover conditions are variable but so far the ones I've cleaned the vinyl is visually NM. In fact most of the vinyl is dead flat and very good quality. The one below plays like new. Good fun.

Had to Google the Musical Heritage Society. Seems like it was a sort of "Book of the Month" club for records, with the recordings themselves obtained from other record companies. The vinyl itself is good quality, quiet and flat.
