Today's Folk/Americana

Nice sonics as well as the music.

Pretty sure Mac is American and if not born and raised in New Orleans spent a lot of his life there.
Originally a guitar player till he got a finger shot off, then learned piano.

The Good Doctor was born, raised, lived and died in The Big Easy. So, yeah.

Next question: Are Ian & Sylvia Americana? How about Bruce Cockburn? Buffy Ste.-Marie?

Isn't Canada part of North America?

I want to expand my Americana collection. Not so interested in the more country stuff but liked the John Moreland, Cowboy Junkies Laura Marling, Iron and Wine Beast Epic (I just heard yesterday). I don't mind if they stray a little into country like Willie Nelson. Any suggestions?
Planning on picking up the Cowboy Junkies The Caution Horses and the Beast Epic album but am looking for some more suggestions.

There's plenty of solid recommendations on this thread already.

Based upon your examples, I would reiterate the following: -

STEVE EARLE Train A Comin 1995 ADD.jpg
Try the opening track "Hometown Blues".

ALISON KRAUSS & UNION STATION New Favorite LP.jpg
Try the title track "New Favorite".

LUCINDA WILLIAMS Essence.png
Try the title track "Essence".

CRACKER The Golden Age (1996).jpg
Try "Big Dipper".

If you can provide some more feedback, this will help as a guide...

I can't try a single track as I'm not into streaming. I have to go and buy the album .

Re-listened to side B. Wonderful! The beginning of side one where she breaths "Here we go" gets the hair on my neck to stand up. Erotic to put a fine point on it.
