Jimmy Buffett Songs You Know By Heart (1985)
1994 MCA Ultimate MasterDisc MCAD-11169
For me, this evokes strong memories of the summer of '77, on the beach at Ocean City, MD.
In heavy rotation that summer, in mono on a Panasonic transistor radio (and we liked it). Those were the days. Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes, The Spy Who Loved Me, Saturday Night Fever, Rumours...
Returning to school that fall the music world was changing... Talking Heads: 77 (and we liked it).
Suprised to see a new Will Oldham album pop on Tidal. To coincide with his new book, Oldham has issued an album of the same name, featuring solo acoustic renditions of 10 songs from his catalog, plus a cover of Richard and Linda Thompson’s “Strange Affair.”
I spend a lot of time here in the lowlands
Mostly keeping to myself
I’ve made a few new friends here in the lowlands
But no one that i really know that well
i come straight home from work and fix my supper
Don’t burn one with my neighbor anymore
Ever since he put that sticker on his bumper
I just turn out the lights and lock the doors
Goddamn it sure got quiet on the high road
As it led us straight down into hell
I don’t know nobody feeling hopeful
I don’t know a soul who’s sleeping well
