Today's Jazz Playlist

Yup ... and Sonny Clark! Was there any other BlueNote player who played more as a sideman on Blue Note recordings?
Did you know Bill Evan’s "NYC's No Lark" is an anagram of "Sonny Clark". Will have to dig out “Cool Strutin’.

yes! i went thru a sonny clark binge a few months ago. also check leapin and lopin.

I wasn’t as taken with the John Zorn SC tributes as I wanted to be. Must give them another listen.

oh man - i find voodoo one of my fave jazz records. i thought that they nailed honoring the originals while doing something new with them.

Well, I’ll definitely have to give it a re-listen! It was a massive months-long crunch-time at work when I first tried to listen to it and I had little time to pay attention to anything other than the hamster wheel. Now, in retirement I bet I’ll dig it. Thanks.

Miles Davis Quintet - Miles in Tokyo
This is the 11/29/19 Record Store Day release. Sounds nice; quiet in the groove; maybe a touch light in the bass.
