Nothing wrong with that one, Ray!
I got to see him once, in his "hometown", during a concert tour (end of tour?). It was in Escondido, Ca., which is straight inland from where he lived, by 15 miles, maybe?.
He was touring with his daughter Anoushka, and her band. I was in the I can barely afford to see this concert seats, but, up in a balcony section. It was a good show in a nice sounding hall.

Mike, this cave recording is very interesting, indeed. The sound is amazing. And there is something which makes this recording even more special. High in the caves tiny birds (that must have been tiny ones because of the sound they made) were sometimes reacting on and responding on the playing of Chris Hinze. You can't hear them very loud, but can hear them. Very very nice.

2012 Island Records 24 Bit/96 kHz download
I should have read the liner notes more carefully, as this sale priced 24/96 download was actually downsampled from the native 24-bit/192 kHz original master tape transfer done by Sterling Sound NYC on a Studer A820 using a dCS 904 A/D converter. Still sounds great, but the 24/192 download is the real McCoy. My mistake.
This is a latin flavoured album I keep coming back to.
"About the recording of this album, Cooder notes that "Galbán and I felt that there was a sound that had not been explored in a Cuban electric-guitar band that could re-interpret the atmosphere of the 1950s with beauty, agility, and simplicity. We decided on two electrics, two drum sets, congas and bass: a sexteto that could swing like a big band and penetrate the mysteries of the classic tunes. This music is powerful, lyrical, and funny; what more could you ask? Mambo Sinuendo is Cuban soul and high-performance."
I don't know how I missed this for 40 years and I don't know if it belongs in a World/Reggae thread but I do know that I have been digging it since it was recommended to me on the Facebook (of all places)
