Today's Rock/Hard Rock/Classic Rock Playlist

king crimson tribute by eclectic artists. first time thru it sounded random. but there is.a certain logic and by the 4th time thru its damned great.

on cd - does not seem to be on streaming or vinyl.

Aja was supposed to be released today on Analogue Productions UHQR, but now has an Oct. 27 ship date. 30,000 copies (10,000 more than the other titles), and I bet most are already sold. Could be that some shipped today but I haven't looked around to see what the deal is.
Apparently all were pushed back to 10/27.

Also, the UMe 180g 33-1/3 vinyl versions are, as mentioned many times, from Bernie Grundman's digital mastering. The vinyl is cut by Alex Abrash at AA Mastering from those digital files, and pressed at Precision.

Too bad this recording had the dynamics brickwalled to snot...

Vinyl version is across two LPs, yet does not include the four bonus tracks. ("Methademic" is my favorite of the digital version, yet isn't on vinyl.) It still would have fit on two LPs with the bonus tracks, with no side longer than 19 minutes.

And this is too good to make up... 😁

Roger Waters DSOTM Redux.

Many opinions out there.

Gave it a try, the first tune is a reading of Free Four, one of my favorite PF tunes. So I can say it held my interest for two tunes, but during the third song, I lost that interest, skipped to the fourth, then gave up.

I popped a couple of these tunes into Roon and it appears that several are on albums by various artists.

It seems that oddball comps are often MIA on the streamers, I assume licensing issues and/or artist payouts are complicated.

yes - compilations are an area where streaming falls down. and one reason to keep the ol cd players and turntables.

stand up, benefit and aqualung is one hell of a streak of classics.
Benefit is my favorite Tull album. There was a UK and a US release so the track listings are different but if you get the 40th Anniversary reissue all is included for you Tull listening pleasure. And, the sound quality is VERY good with Steven Wilson's remastering.

Jethro Tull - Living In The Past

MFSL UDCD 2-708

Interesting collection of tunes looking back. Some unreleased tracks for the time. Some tunes only found on this album. Some added tunes from previously released albums. And of course the big hit "Living In The Past". This album was not included in the Steven Wilson remaster/reissue series.

For whom the bell Tulls, imho, if someone could only afford one Tull it would have to be Stand Up. In 1969, the seminal year for rock music, imho, Stand Up is a standout amongst giants. The first three Tulls are the best, with Stand Up holding the #1 spot.

There, I said it.

I second that.
I remember how disappointed I was come the new decade of the eighties, and the release of A.

I was turned off by both the music and the jumpsuits, and thought Jethro Tull had jumped the shark.
