Update on the D-10. After a few weeks of listening, I found the D-10 lacking to the D-30 I had. Not sure what it is but, something is just missing in the sound quality. Sending it back and going to try something else.
It might be the CS4398 DAC chip inside the D30 which I also liked before I regressed to multi-bit. Doesn't the D10 use a Sabre ESS chip?
I think that might have a lot to do with it.And/or the quality of the USB 5V bus power fed to the D10 as opposed to the D30's use of an external 15 volt power supply.
USB bus power quality varies greatly, mostly it's pretty bad, and addressing that adds cost to the total when using a D10 (or any other USB bus powered DAC).
