What are you listening to right now ?

I was hanging with an old friend yesterday, and he told me 'Baby's On Fire' might be his all-time favorite tune. Then he asked when and how I had first heard this LP.

I really had no idea and told him that. But I said that I got into Brian Eno after hearing the early Roxy Music albums.

Then he mentioned that he had just given away all the cassettes I had ever made him. He saw that I had recorded 'Here Come The Warm Jets' and the first Roxy Music LP onto one 90-minute TDK tape for him when we were juniors in High School, so 73/74.

He gave the cassettes to a friend of his son, who has just restored an old Ford pickup with a cassette player, but he had no tapes.

I can't believe tapes made in the late '70's would still play, but he said they do?

I've got a box of tapes I recorded back then that I plyed testing some decks and they sound pretty good. TDK SA and Maxell UDXL are good tape. I've also got a bunch of radio shows from the early 80s that have some pretty good stuff on them, especially WXRT "Chicago's Finest Rock" which recorded a lot of local live shows for broadcast.
