Just love this on two fronts, first I love Garrard 401 decks....I used to work in radio with a pair and wish I had bought one when they were affordable and two I have to approve the record choice as a Dutchman.
For many years I have been using a green/red German copy of "Tubular Bells" as my "go to " album for setting up systems, turntables etc....It contains allsorts of challenges for a system to reproduce well and of course it has so soring female vocal s of power near the label , so it is great to check alignment etc.
A few weeks ago I came across a "Roger Dean" label Dutch first pressing and had my eyes opened even further. This is a really first class pressing that is crisp , clean, clear and has great dynamics....I have been enjoying this copy on a regular basis and today is no exception.......
Acquired yesterday from a great mail order shop in Berlin......The Yes album that is well Yes but not Yes ....still it is a good listen and has all the ingredients but not all the members.
Here in The South Netherlands, it is 29C and sunny .......I'm not that far south but I am "landlocked" and that helps push the temperature up at this time of the year.
I had to wait a long time to own this but now I have a copy and I find it a great listen. I was so pleased to find that my contact in Berlin had found me a white label promo copy!
Moby Play. I listened to this sooo much when it came out (really caused the headlights of my 77 VW Westy to dim to the beat of the bass when turned up until I added a 1 F cap) that I had about a 15 year period where I dont think I listened to it once. That has recently changed and I am enjoying it once again.
