Bourbon is 51% corn*, so it qualifies as vegetable. Dare I say it’s a fine vegan option.

*at least at the start before all the good chemistry stuff happens.

Yeah, I see the same bs happening in Scotch whiskey and to a lesser extent the Irish stuff. More marketing than substance and, worse, the corporate ruination of previously great pours. Maybe it's a bit like that in audio, too; more jewelry than performance. The guy with the hyped (but barely listenable) stereo impressing himself with his refined tastes by pouring a Johnnie Walker Blue. Let's count ourselves happy to know the difference.

Yeah, bourbon had the explosion in popularity some years ago and that’s when I got interested. I was primarily a craft beer drinker before that. I did the best to educate myself, which takes some work because there are so many opinions and a lot hype on fancy labels. I tend to stick to the brands that are distilled and bottled by the actual distiller. That’s not to say that a producer can’t buy, mix, and finish a fine whiskey. But I think those tend to be overpriced and overhyped.
