WiiM Amp Ultra, a subwoofer and a smart speaker.

I knew they'd eventually come out with a smart speaker like this. With Sonos still in some disarray I would expect some to now jump ship from that brand and land on this WiiM speaker, should it have the same positive reviews and attractive pricing that the other WiiM products did.

I hate when they tease things that are months away with no pricing provided, but I guess thats a way of building the suspense and buzz prior to the actual product release. Hopefully the tariff war will have been amicably resolved by then.

The Amp Ultra looks like it might be in the very same enclosure as the Ultra streaming preamp:

One difference I see between the Amp Ultra and the earlier WiiM Amp and Amp Pro is the power supply uses a grounded C5 "Mickey Mouse" or cloverleaf style IEC plug (the Amp and Amp Pro use a floating PSU with non-polarized C7 power cord):

The WiiM Sound powered speaker's originally intended Q3 release date has been delayed, now expected for mid-October in the U.S. and early November for Europe at £299 (still no official mention of the U.S. pricing, I'm guessing the tariff situation might have muddied that picture up just a bit).

There will also be a WiiM Sound Lite that is nearly identical but lacking the touch screen display, no official statement as yet on the timing/availability and price of the Sound Lite.

The WiiM Sound powered smart speaker pricing has been announced as $299 US, £299 UK, and €349 EU when it becomes available, in the US that is rumored to be October 28th, and Amazon have created listings in several other countries including the UK, and Australia, suggesting availability there won't be too far behind.

That AWS outage that occurred on Monday seems to have set them back a lot, an item originally scheduled for delivery to me today has been pushed back now fully one week, with this explanation:

Some deliveries may be delayed due to a technical issue, which has since resolved. We are working hard to get your items delivered as soon as possible and are sorry for any inconvenience.

The U.S. launch of the WiiM Sound powered smart speaker is officially delayed due to a lack of FCC authorization as a result of the government shutdown, according to an announcement on the WiiM forum.

This model will launch as planned in other markets, but for now the U.S. launch is delayed indefinitely while the FCC remains unfunded.

The WiiM Sound is not the only new product facing this delay, and no, this post is not a political statement, just a statement of fact on the current status and availability of a product many are interested in as a possible replacement for their Sonos speakers as we approach the holidays.

Please refrain from posting any comment of a political nature.

The WiiM Sound smart speaker is now listed on Amazon at $299, with an expected delivery of "Dec.15 - Jan.16", so it sounds like the FCC approval that was stalled by the government shutdown is now imminent. As discussed in another thread, this brand new model in WiiM's lineup is not subject to their Black Friday sale pricing. Currently only available to order in black, though a white version is also planned.
