WiiM Mini and WiiM Pro: Doorway Streamer

So, I did end up with one of these. I have to say it's an incredible value. I have not used the analog outputs yet in my office but overall it sounds wonderful in my big system. Setup was a snap, and I was up and running in about 15 minutes. I have a feeling this won't be my last one of these.

Thanks for putting this on my radar @MikeyFresh

I guess Santa decided you had been a good boy after all, must have been all those quarters in the swear jar!

Are you just using one of the WiiM's cloud streaming services for now, or is there a local library server such as LMS or Roon involved?

I have all my CD's burned onto a hard drive, but honestly man I never use it. I just stream from Tidal. I do have a spare Pi here (3 I think) that I could setup as a headless server but I'm just not sure I will ever really use it.

My swear jar would likely put someone in Lumin territory. LOL

Not sure what happened but Qobuz is now really running slowly on my Wiim devices. By that I mean the search function and cueing of songs is taking forever. It’s quite annoying.

I'm not seeing that here, iOS 16.4.1 on an iPad 9 running the latest 2.6.7 version of the WiiM Home app and updated WiiM device firmware.

Maybe just a temporary glitch or Qobuz server slowdown? You can always try a reboot from the WiiM Device settings menu (scroll to the very bottom of that list).

Got it, well if you ever decide there are any specially mastered CD versions on that HDD you'd like to hear, certainly the fabulous and free piCorePlayer software will work quite nicely on an RPi 3, and offer you an easy to access Logitech Media Server. The WiiM Pro/Plus have been updated to present as Squeezelite renderers by default, you don't have to do anything in settings there, it will just automatically show up as a Squeezebox in the LMS web browser interface:

Thanks @MikeyFresh I used to run squeezeserver when I was a logitech (actually slim devices) fanboi.

I don't have anything particularly wild on CDs, mostly just good memories. :)

What I would absolutely love, would be a fast way to export album names from my library, then import that list to Tidal and have it create a custom library. Yeah I know I could do it manually but... I sometimes struggle to navigate the extremely large amount of music available online. I do the same thing in a record store, I walk in and my brain goes into fight or flight mode. haha

I have paid a LOT more money for less performance over the years with streaming.

Does anyone use the multi-room feature with multiple Wiim's? Is their proprietary Linkplay lossless and hi-res?

Oh and it seems the Pro Plus is on sale for a few more minutes on Amazon. It's down to $186.15.

I have played two at once but don’t remember if it limited the resolution. I want to say there’s a limit but I’m not sure. It worked effortlessly though.

I believe this depends on a few things, the device (the Mini lacks CPU and RAM), and also the source. Amazon Music for example has limitations in terms of hi-rez multi-room if I'm not mistaken.

There was discussion of this on the WiiM forum but I didn't pay a ton of attention to it because I use LMS/Squeezelite for multiroom.

But for sure many of the complaints were from WiiM Mini users, and that device is definitely more limited in terms of multiroom due to it's CPU and RAM spec.

Aw man, I slept on the deal on the pro + and by the time I decided to pull the trigger the deal ended. whomp whomp

I'll pretty much echo that. Mine showed up and I won't have time to properly wire it into my system, but I unboxed it and plugged it in and it immediately connected to Roon and I was able to AirPlay the audio to my receiver. As a bonus, it even sent over the title metadata which I was not expecting.

I just submitted a bug to Wiim. The SPDIF input on my Pro Plus intermittently reverses the stereo channels. I did a search and saw others mention this problem. I was going nuts trying to figure this out.

I've spent the weekend trying to determine the best way to use the analog in on the Wiim Pro+. I'm using a Schiit Mani with an Ortofon 2M Blue. With the Mani set to 30dB of gain the output is too low. The next setting on the Mani is 42dB of gain (the factory setting) and that's clipping the input on peaks with the Wiim. I have a Schiit Sys between them and I can dial back the output to get the optimum setting, but it's not precise or the most convenient. If the Wiim had an input adjustment that would help.
