Fun weekend with a Magnavox FD1000

It's been years since I've had this thing plugged in and running, so this weekend I decided to excavate it and give it a go, as one does. And, well, I'll be darned if it doesn't still work. This was the first surprise. (I've had a bad run of luck lately with long dormant gear.) The second surprise is how nice it still sounds-- nice enough, even, to make me feel kinda guilty for neglecting the little fella for so long. It also makes me wonder what business this dinosaur has sounding this good, technological progress being what it's been, and forty years being what it's been, and so on.... In any event, a fun weekend.

2 x TDA1540 👍😊

I've always wondered what tweaks Meridian did to this Philips chassis.🤔

Heck, I wasn't even aware such a thing existed.
