Nelson Pass Aleph J

Nice glow! :D

(If it were me, I’d be inclined to shorten and/or re-route those input leads away from the transformer and closer to the chassis-walls before I buttoned it up, but that’s just me.)

They're easily moved to the sides. In the pic they look closer to the transformer than they are. I'll check before I close it up.
And how does it sound?
I didn't get the chance to play it at my place much. We did try it at @gable 's just to make sure it was stable. I'll have to give it a bit to find out.

It it’s anything like the F5, it’ll sound best after giving it time to warm up... like a SET amp. ;)

Anxiously awaiting as well. The Aleph 30 is simply a FANTASTIC amp, and this is, I guess, an improved Aleph 30. I think you're in for a treat. I actually haven't used my Aleph in a while, the Harbeths wanting a bit more power, but it was within its power constraints, one of the finest sounding amps I've ever heard. Happy listening!

Ok, I really haven't had the chance to listen much yet. It does have very nice SQ. I have noticed that it could use a active preamp. The Aleph only puts out 19db of gain. I've been using it with a passive pre and the Alpair 10P/CGR speakers. While it will get to adequate listening levels, there seems to be something missing at lower volume. I think with higher efficiency speakers the passive pre would work well. I'll get some more time with it.

I can't speak to the Aleph, but I've found the Pass ACA plays very nicely with the Aikido LV.

Good thread , I have been interested in building a Pass amp for some time.
Thanks for sharing.

I'm listening as I type. It seems to have gotten much better. Low volume has improved a bunch. Burn-in?? Maybe just my hearing?? The CGR's still don't image the way I want them too. So getting a true SQ test of the Aleph is tough. Guess I'll need to build another cab for the 10P's or get a pair of higher efficiency speakers. I have read the Aleph likes 2-way speakers over the single drivers. I'll have to take it back to @gable and try it with his main system. We can compare the Aleph to his F5.
