Recorded cassette tape give away: Kassette Karma

It’s a little known piece of rock music lore that when Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter penned Box of Rain that the original title was Box o’ Tapes, about the Deadheads selling bootleg cassettes outside the concert venues. But then they thought that was dumb and then changed it to Box of Rain with new lyrics.

Ok, I made that part up.

What is true - and I have no idea if this will be of any interest to anyone - is that I have a box of about 125 recorded cassettes, mostly from the 90s, that is/ are free to a good home, if you pay the shipping. They have been boxed and living in a closet since about the turn of the century. Last night I played about a dozen tapes and I was surprised that they sounded fine, at least good enough to play as reference tapes or in a car or a garage workshop, etc. I also recorded a cd over one the tapes and when played it back to my wife and she couldn’t tell one from the other.

There are about a dozen commercially recorded tapes as well. But my recorded tapes sounded better than the commercially recorded ones.

I can’t guarantee the condition or sound quality of any of the tapes but if you will pay for shipping the tapes are yours. The box weighs approximately 30lbs. In the unlikely event that more than one person wants them I could always break-up the collection.

Music includes:

I was watching Rockers the other night.

For sure! I had seen it once before sometime bw 2001-2004 when I was living the life (climbing bum). I saw it in one of the employee canvas tents in Curry Village in Yosemite. Then a couple of months ago I decided to see if it was on Amazon Prime and it was. So I watched it with Sir Mix-a-lot. :beat
