These popped on the Streamers today. I am sure that they sound different, not sure if they sound better, yet.

I saw them on Quboz today and thought of you immediately. Looks like the 2CD one with the extra demo and live cuts.

Will have a listen. Thanks for posting.

Any new Little Feat (the Lowell years that is) is good news.

I just cant enough of their bootleg live stuff.... so, any good SQ addition to that list is a treat

I thought the live cuts were cool despite the somewhat spotty sound quality.
Yup. Most of the non- Columbus live stuff is horrible but I still listen to it. It reminds me of old bootleg Dead cassetet tapes that had been recorded over and over agian and sounded so bad but still listened to it adnauseam cause the music is so good.

I can hardly listen to it on the big rig. But in the car, it sounds awesome... which would be a great subject for another thread- "Music you can only listen to in the car"! Anyway... a dream come true would be the live stuff refined enough to listen to on a revealing system.

Well, that's one of my main gripes about these "deluxe" versions; they are full of second rate stuff that most likely only a zealot would find interesting. That recent 5CD box set of The Beatles "Revolver" is a perfect example,

I'm sorry, but I have no interest in the song writing/recording process; actually I find it painful listening.

I'm pretty much the same, I have very little or no interest in demos or work in progress track versions, but I do like the live tracks and find those at least somewhat interesting even when the sound quality is subpar.

I like a lot of their other stuff. Hoy-Hoy, Sailin' Shoes and their self-titled album are in general rotation around here. Never fails to put a smile on my face.

Wait, what? There is a 5CD box set of The Beatle's "Revolver?"

Joking.

I pretty much have to agree with you, to most of us it is painful listening. Then you have others endlessly discussing the difference between two Zappa outtakes and speculating why band member X's solo was removed from the final mix.

The problem I have with the live stuff is that there is soooo much out there. I'm a fan of the live releases from the Allman Brothers at the Fillmore, Humble Pie at The Fillmore, and Delaney and Bonnie and Friends Live On Tour with Eric Clapton, but not the $$$ multi CD box sets of those tours. To me it's just a blatant money grab by the record companies to empty the wallets of retired Boomers with 401K money to spend.

FWIW, this is exactly why I love Quboz, as they give me access to all of these excesses and more for $13/month in HiRez.

BTW, Ouch!!

Yep, I'll fix that. Spotify works fine for the car and cursory auditions, and I have a share from my daughter. I just looked and it has the D&B box set, so I bet the other two are there too.

A lot of artists or whoever owns the tapes are sitting on mountains of material and are starting to release for various reasons.

Neil Young recently selling 50% of his catalog comes to mind.

Grateful Dead set the gold standard on how to curate and release. Hopefully others will follow.

I had a Zappa record set way back that was called "Beat the Boots" or something along those lines.

LMAO! I'm a Dead fan and only buy stuff that I may have seen in person, or like the set/renditions. I remember seeing the tapers at the show in their sections with boom mics to preserve the experience. August 9th will be the 28 anniversary of Jerry's passing, but there still are new releases of shows rolling out regularily. I stopped listening to them around Dick's Picks #32 from Alpine Valley, and that was released in 2004, since then there's been Dave's Picks, Road Trips various volumes, geographically and venue based recordings and more.
I was literally thinking about this yesterday and wondering how many CDs it would take to present all the live versions of "Dark Star" out there? A whole lot for sure; Quboz has 89 listed...

Was Lowell George a member? Since we're talkin about Little Feat
:)

I have to laugh. Wondering about your question I went down the Lowell George / Zappa rabbit hole, only to pop out on the other side without the answer to your question, but having found a Chico Hamilton LP that features the entire Little Feat band.

Amazing timing there...Taylor Player and I just unearthed this same LP from his collection last week. It's worth a listen for sure....
