Jack Clark RIP

After speaking with Jack just 6 weeks ago, i learned today from his daughter Kacey that Jack passed unexpectedly.

Jack was the owner and technician of JM Technical Arts, a Revox authorized repair shop in Mount Juliet Tennessee. Over the years he did astounding work on a few B77s for me, including a conversion to high-speed 1/2 track which Fed Ex managed to mangle. I’d just sent it back to Jack to be repaired, to learn this really sad news. We’d managed to become friends at a distance, and i valued his wise counsel. He will be greatly missed.

For anyone who has items with Jack, Kacey will be reaching out to you soon. She’s dealing with her father’s home and business by herself, so i think it’s important that we all are as patient as possible in this really trying time for her.

That is indeed sad news, Jack was a great resource for Revox information and service. He was always friendly, generous and knowledgeable whenever I asked him a question or needed advice he was there. He will be missed.

What a loss to the audio community. These guys are passing on and not many are coming behind them to carry on the baton. It’s not even that we don’t have access to manuals and schematics, but the wisdom learned from hands on that is not always documented. The custom jigs and quirks and such. That gets lost to the inevitable. Rest easy Jack.

Jack was unique. Brusque by email, he brightened up over the phone. I relied on him to keep my B77 dreams alive…

His daughter told me that Jack’s grandson (or nephew - i forget which) was interested in taking over, but didn’t get enough training time with Jack before he passed. I hope he decides to learn anyway.
