"Dating your ex." You sold it then bought it again.

10mm I'm good on (oddly enough*), but I lost both a 14mm and 17mm from my low-profile socket set and need to find them so I don't have to replace the entire set, since they're not sold separately.

* I tend to use my deep-well 10mm the most, so maybe it's a little more resistant than the standard 10mm that used to fall just about everywhere I couldn't reach it. 😁

I lost my BlueDriver OBD2 reader though. It's not in either of the cars I used it in last (I've looked a few times, especially since I always take it with me on rallies and road trips) but I suspect it's somewhere around the workbench area in the garage. I still have the ELM327 knockoff that I've had for years but it can only read the most basic of OBD2 codes.

I’ve been missing a second 256GB one for quite a while. It was good storage for a lot of things. What really frustrates me is that it was yellow and stood out. I’d get another, but with 3-4 64GB ones lying about it’s not needed.
I bought it to use in my Samsung phone to boost my storage to 330GB before I streamed a lot. Now that music can stay in the cloud, I just need to carry on my 128GB IPhone enough to get me through the no service zones while traveling.

I have three Apple lightning to 1/8” headphone adapters. I usually find I need them while I’m airports where I notice I forgot my AirPods but have my wired headphones….so they all come with premium airport pricing.

Funny, now we have migrated to the lost and found...
I think I could a chapter, before I became in need of glasses fulltime it was always looking for readers..
Another one is the three way plugs you use with an extension cord for power tools...

Over the last fifteen years, I've bought many of the records I bought as a teenager and later junked, for the two vinyl jukeboxes I've had for that number of years. You can't beat a bit of nostalgia.

This doesn't count because I haven't consummated it yet, but I've off and on went looking around to re-buy a Yamaha YP-D8 turntable. The one turntable that I sold that I miss. Oh and I've bought two Empire 398s...but mostly to make one great one out of two mediocre ones.

Why did I sell that Yamaha???? It was perfect.

what's a fair price range for those yamaha tables? about a grand?

I bought mine for $200. But I think $500 is a fair if high price. It’s not a very complex table…no Quartz lock, which I don’t mind at all. Great medium-mass tonearm. Solid heavy plinth. I liked it’s simplicity and it sounded good.

My ex was a used Technics SL-1200 MKII that I bought (cond. 6 of 10) about 10 years ago. Didn't look the greatest but operated perfectly. Got upgrade-itis and added an "audiophile " bearing and a Sumiko tonearm. This was the ex that wasn't the prettiest, but you snuck out with her because you grooved so well, and everything was so effortless. I ended up selling that deck for a better and prettier model.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago where I decided to quit thinking about my ex and decided to reconnect. I picked up this nearly mint condition bone stock Technics SL1210 MKII for $500. My ex was everything I remembered her as.

looks like she really took care of herself in the time off. Any itches for that audiophile bearing again?

I've heard a fully Funk-Firm tricked out SL-1200mkII with some KAB mods as well and... really it just sounded like an SL-1200. If I had one again (I had an ex with two of them, so legally they weren't "mine" per se...but we dated for 5 years) the only mod I'd do would be to put a really heavy top plate on top of the platter. I realize that defeats the quick-reaction of the quartz lock but that's kind of what I'd be after, and I bet it would work well. I've done that with almost every DD I've had since acquiring the plate and it just does something positive to the sound. NOT to give you an itch or anything ;) I'd loan it out but its on my Empire curing the ring in the platter.

Funny you mentioned that about the mods, but I felt the same way. The only thing I was going to try was possibly a Funk Firm Achromat (The more expensive 7mm with glass) and or a better cartridge. What kind of mat do you use on your Empire?

Edit: One of the cool things about this table was that it was one of the last off the assembly line in Japan. Built in August of 2010.

@JohnVF : as a Technics owner, i am interested in learning more about the platter "plate." whats it made of? where can they be sourced?

thanks

The only quartz lock table I've used it on was my Mitsubishi LT-30 (but it's probably similar to the Technics). The plate is from TTweights which sadly is no longer in business. It's a copper/delrin/wood layered sandwhich and weighs several pounds. But...I've seen others. What I found it did on my Mitsubishi was remove a hint of, how to say it, hash? from the sound. Whether that was from adding a flywheel effect to smooth out any speed adjustments, or just deadening the platter/motor interface I don't know. You have a 1200G, no? That probably wouldn't have any of the potential for that to happen. I'm kind of dancing around it but I'm referring to the 'hunting and pecking' for speed that is a somewhat controversial subject with Quartz locked tables...but my LT-30 seemed to have a hint of it, though its not a huge deal as I'm not even using the top plate on it anymore. The ringing on my Empire was a bigger problem.

I want to emphasize that this is nitpicky audiophile stuff. The 1200s sound fantastic as-is. The two I had access to were enjoyed without any mods whatsoever. I just thought it was interesting that one with about $5,000 worth of mods sounded pretty much the same, as there's, to my ear, a distinct character they have.

The 1200G/1210G (silver/black) will benefit from a platter mat upgrade (like an Achromat) and better isolation, but otherwise all those "tweaky" mods from generations past aren't really necessary. They even have some adjustability these days (the motor's torque can be adjusted) and of all things, they have a USB port beneath the platter to load firmware. Who knew? The platter itself is a bimetal sandwich already, so the idea of damping it further aside from a turntable mat really won't do all that much.

The two other DDs I have (a sh*tty Realistic LAB-400, owned almost since new, and an overrated armless Denon DP-1500 {?}) don't have the quartz lock and they hunt and peck (good term) continuously while in playback...aaaaand, I can hear it. Hypersensitive to pitch differences. A curse I've had since about five years old. The Denon even has a magnetic strip on a ridge underneath the platter, and a tape head to read it with. But, it's not such a good system.

I had a Bell Carillion 6060 (web pic) and sold it long ago. Years pass, run into buyer and his basement flooded, Bell submerged. We're both sad, more years & years go by. At friend's home in his audio morgue and spy a water damaged 6060. "Where did that come from?", he could not remember (he does a lot of deals) am certain it's the one I had. And I always regretted letting it go but am pretty sure it's coming back.
