I just moved all my files to a new music server so my SGC sonicTransporter i5 is up for grabs. If you've been thinking of ripping your CDs to digital bits and bytes, or if you just want a dedicated server that isn't your laptop, this may be the ticket!

This i5 is the one with an integral CDR tray; ripping CDs is as simple as 1) insert disc, 2) wait for it to eject, and 3) repeat.

I purchased this new from an authorized dealer in 2020, and it has been operating flawlessly ever since.

Original retail was $1295 with the 1TB SSD.

I'll take fresh photos this weekend. Here's an old one:

Great unit, I still love mine. This isn’t their Optical Version is it?
Not the optical version. But yes, it’s a great server and has served extremely well. Its likely I will regret my (admittedly impulsive) choice to go in another direction but here I am… Heh.

I was asked how this is connected to a system and ran across this diagram.

Using Roon one can also connect WiiMs and Pi's instead/with the RenDu via WiFi or ethernet.

External USB drives can connect to the i5 sonic Transporter.

I was so hoping it would be me. But the "Living in Canada" tax (dollar worth nothing, extra shipping, import taxes and fees) just make it unmanageable. Total sucks, as Nate is about the best guy to deal with in the Haven.

Can’t we get it smuggled across somehow? Like under a sweater of something?

How easy is it to transfer files? Does this run windows?
Transferring files is super slick. Drag and drop.

The operating system is their own "sonicorbiter OS"... which is very barebones and didn't present any challenges when I used it in my Mac based world...

And that's where my expertise starts to drop off a cliff. :)
