The JE Labs/ Angela SE 2A3 amplifier, revisited

It means ‘henpecked’ if I recall correctly.
Some guys need a little of that to keep this hobby in check. I walked in to a fellows apartment once and was greeted by 3 sets of Tube mono-blocks & 2 integrated amps on his living room floor (entertainment center flanked by largehorn speakers; before I knew what they were). His dining area was stuffed with altec A7’s, big horns to the side, dynaco A25’s, AR3’s and other similar sized speakers.....no room to sit and eat..

Back on topic; any updates @Redboy , the locals are getting restless!

I think I've met him. ;)

Left to my own vices I would live in similar conditions.

@Redboy , Would you mind sharing what that aluminum extrusion that crosses the midline of the chassis is and where you sourced it? It is that piece that the turret strip mounts to. TIA
Dave

Lol... you clearly haven’t seen how Nate operates... much like me, projects rarely move along in a linear fashion. 😂
Yeah, that’s the truth of it!

No updates for a bit, as we’re in CO this week for Turkey Day.

Hey Dave, @golana is right. The aluminum channel came from Thomas in a kit of parts that I got from him.

I have searched everywhere from McMaster Carr to Amazon to hobby shops without success. Weird.

”Pantoffelheld” is German and literally means ”Slipper Hero”. You can find the same expression in several European languages. And yes, it means henpecked or uxurious. I want to make clear that my comment was not directed specifically against poor Mr Hardy. He seems better off than most. But it is an impression I have gained over many years from various media (not only the writings of Mr. Thurber) that the lady of the house wears the trousers in most American households. Many posts on the audio fora that I frequent reinforces this impression. I have read countless post by male American audio hobbyists who complain that their wife won’t let them bring the speaker they desire into the house because the wife says it’s too big, too ugly or doesn’t fit the decor, etc. She may also demand that they sell off most of their prized audio gear because it ”clutters up the house”. In some cases she will allow suboptimal solutions for the audio setup like a small spare bedroom, a dank basement or a freezing garage. Not good enough. I think it’s time fore the American male to assert himself. A Male Lib Movement, perhaps?

i guess it depends on what you are looking for in a life partner. i have always been drawn to lively personalities, but you can't get that without them also having opinions on things like interior decor of shared spaces. never a trade-off i wanted to make.
