515’s would be better in that config… but pretty badass.

I suppose in theory. But in practice the 416s sound spectacular. They go really low in this sideways horn configuration and as placed in the room. Honestly, this configuration is far more satisfying than the vertical 210 setup, and those were filled with Hollywood black and gold 515s, or later 515Bs.

This config is the same family of sound as a 416 in an Onken (as the 416 does have its own sound), really tuneful but with more dynamics and about 9dB more efficient. Really, with these beasts, finally a 1 watt 46 amp is enough to rock out.

I do have enough Magnavox field coil woofers to try in them, which are more like early electrodynamic 515s. But I haven't built the four power supplies they need yet. They need something nice. I tried HP regulated supplies many years ago, and it was meh. Didn't realize back then the power supplies could have so much influence.

So many projects... and I don't think this is the bottleneck in my system anymore. :-)

Pretty cool looking. I bet it sounds great. Do you have any video clips? Thanks
@jaipre
Nothing on hand, sorry. I will see if I can manage to record a decent phone vid worthy of a listen.
