I’m not superstitious, but I am a little stitious.

A while back, despairing of not finding an affordable Ashly XR1001 crossover to go with my passive subs and newly acquired amp, I caved and bought a Carvin XC3000.
I would never attempt magick, but I’m not an entrenched-enough rational materialist not to acknowledge when I trip over it. By purchasing the Carvin, I caused an inexpensive XR1001 to pop up, and I had to get it.
The Ashly XR1001 stuck around for close to a couple of decades, eventually falling victim to offshoring. It was replaced by the similar Chinese-built XR-1001, which itself had a good run and was retired only recently.
In the forum era, the XR1001 has found favor with bi-amping hi-fi enthusiasts, who appreciate its versatility and transparency. I used one a few years back, and have consistently regretted selling it.
My XR1001 dates from 2000, but the board is Rev. 6 dated 1996. Electrolytic caps are Rubycon. Opamps are 4560 on the inputs, and otherwise 2043. Each input/output consists of a 1/4” and XLR jack, allowing for any combination of balanced and unbalanced connections. 3-way operation is only in mono.
