Any amateur/HAM radio operators here?

Hi gang... long time audiophile here, and (more or less) longer-time ham radio nerd. Anyone else?

I'm in my upper 40s now, but have been licensed since I was 14. I took some time off around 2008 (interestingly, right around the time I delved much deeper in audiophilia), but came back to radio in 2021, and have been fairly active since.

Certainly I'm not the only one?

Haven't been on the air since pre covid and was just talking (literally) about what to do with my gear.
I have an ICOM 7100 as I mostly work portable being in an apartment. 20 meter fan boy!
Was also on D-Star, still have the node hooked up but need to reset the computer.

Hello! Thanks for chiming in!

I'm not on (or at least haven't yet delved into) D-Star or the other IP-based protocols, still kind of RF-oriented. There's an active local group who are very serious about their digital interfaces, it just hasn't grabbed my attention - I've always been more of a CW/SSB guy.

I got back in to CW for a bit and bought a really nice key and some bugs.
Back when I was a Tech plus, I like working 15 meters, especially for me, when the European skip came over the North. Being DX doesn't hurt.
Nowadays, I just stick to SSB.
I usually just set up my rig in parking lot at work, stringing a dipole up between two trees.
I think there are still some pics up on QRZ.
Thinking about getting back on the air...

I see your bug and I raise you one bug and one G0NVT key!

Haven't used them in so long all covered in dust and oxidized.
The straight key is great though and much recommended! Got a couple other keys around like a Navy flameproof and some kit keys.
Never spent enough time on the bug to get any good at it going at my ultra fast 5wpm...
As I said earlier, I did most of my CW work as a Tech Plus on 15m.
