Buchardt Audio Anniversary 10 w/Platin Hub

A couple of months before his passing I was visiting my pal Rick Craig (Selah Audio). I mentioned that I had been to the Capitol Audio Fest specifically to hear a speaker I was very eager to hear after reading an over-the-moon review written by a popular reviewer. However I was sorely disappointed in what I heard and worried that my hearing was going bad. Rick agreed that it might be my hearing (thanks Rick!) or it could have been the room, or the upstream components … or it could have been the speakers or a combination of any of the above. Rick then talked about some reviewers who seem to have become more ‘influencers’ than working as unbiased critical reviewers.

I frequently read and enjoy reviews by Huff, Gutenberg and Darko and had Rick’s comment in the back of my mind when reading Huff’s extremely positive review of the Buchardt Audio Anniversary 10 w/Platin Hub. High praise indeed and quite convincing (“These have made me rethink everything”) … and now I’d like to hear them.

Has anyone head the Anniversary 10s? Any thoughts to share?

Hey,
I’ve not heard them but did entertain purchasing a used pair off usaudiomart prior to buying the Blackbirds. The thing that turned me away was an issue regarding overheating of the amps. I’m not sure just how significant this issue is but thought I’d mention it. There was a fair amount of internet chatter about the issue so I began looking at other options. The pair I looked at were selling for $3300 without stands iirc.
Anyway, just a thought
My best to you
To be fair I believe the pair I looked at were the A500’s with Platin hub. There was also an upgrade of sorts to the hub from an outside manufacturer, whose name escapes me at the moment. Which added significantly to the overall outlay
Just checked, it was Primare

I love Buchhardt and still would love a pair of 400mkII. But I just can’t get past the looks of the drivers in the 10. I know it’s functional, but for me at least. It is deal breaking and unappealing.
