Chicago Style Hot Dog - Take Two

It's actually in St. Louis!
Woofie dog!

We have rounded up all the ingredients to do it correctly at our house from time to time. All the better groceries sell the sport peppers and green relish.

The founder of Costco, drunk as hell, "It’s gonna have hot dogs and optometrists!"

IDK about that, but this is true….

I said, ‘Jim, we can’t sell this hot dog for a buck fifty," Jelineck recalled, according to a post by 425 Business. "We are losing our rear ends.’ And he said, ‘If you raise the effing hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out.’

Looks good PM--glad you finally found a keeper! And I haven't had a Chicago dog since a year or two ago when I choked down some horrid, soggy mess of a dog at the local Portillo's.

But a rhetorical question--since when/where in this world of ours does a single hot dog cost $9? Add the fries and "pop can" and it's a $16 ("plus applicable tax") meal?

That Loaded Woofdawg is lookin' kinda good also...weird enough that I'd probably enjoy it.

I think we get a taste for a hot dog once a year. And that was last week. I still had a tube of National chili in the freezer, so I thawed 'er out and heated 'er up. Since we are breadless here at the house, for me it was just a pile of hot dogs, chili, lots of onions, and mustard. Kinda like a steamin' spoonful of Coney dog casserole maybe? 😁 Although since I've recently conquered homemade corn tortillas, I may experiment with one or two of the remaining hot dogs as a way to keep it gluten-free, yet still have something to wrap the hot dog in.

Now I want a hot dog for breakfast...

I live off of food from the Maverik stations when I'm out west. I can pick up a wrap and have it for two days when I'm on the road or in a rally, as I carry salty snacks, and have a 12V refrigerator I travel with. I'm not spending $10-$15 just to stop and waste 45 minutes for lunch when I'm traveling (and especially on a rally day).

Somewhat on topic; did anyone thoroughly enjoy am/pm‘s hot dogs back in the day?

My recommendation is Byron’s. The Irving Park location is under the El tracks (and next to a cemetery) which makes for a particularly Chicago-y experience.
