Flower Pics

Here are a few early morning cloudless sunrise pics from around the homestead. The Grape Hyacinths, in reality, are more blue than purple though. One of my complaints with this S8 and the "Google" free camera app is that it does blues/purples absolutely atrociously.

The forsythias are right at peak, with the exception of our huge donor granddaddy of them all which is just a hair past peak and showing a slight green cast of emerging leaves.

The Magnolia peaked a few days ago during the monsoon we had, and it isn't as nice as last year because the very warm weather we had in early March caused the larger buds to blossom but, put the brakes on the smaller ones when the weather once again turned suddenly cold, impeding bloom for many.🙁

Everything else is a heartbeat away from exploding into color.

Of course the main veggie garden. The soil is better than it has been since the early years of the 42 years we've had it here in this spot. 6 years ago I started a strict regimen of making proper compost, adding good topsoil I robbed from many parts of our yard and a whole lot of elbow grease. It had gotten severely depleted in both nutrients and mass. North-side of our yard facing west.

The granddaddy of all the forsythias we have scattered about. I split and moved this from its original spot in the front of the house in the late 80s - planting bits of him all over the place. At some point in the late 90s I once again dug up the granddaddy and put him in the rear of the lot (east side) and he's happier than ever. Our "Gold-standard" (and ancient) forsythia.

Lilac (light purple). This is just one of the 5 ancient varieties we have transplanted and scattered all around the lot.

We have violets all over the place. Certainly one of our favorite wildflowers.

Love it! Sadly in suburbia those violets are considered noxious weeds. Happily I’ve moved to an area where most people are less obsessed with perfect, well manicured lawns.
