So, a fellow Havenite generously lent me one of his K-L430 horns to do a deep dive. This horn is relatively short (about 8.8") to fit into a very tight cabinet space. The expansion is very fast. The mouth appeared to be Tractrix. But, the math did not work out. Perhaps it's dual-expansion? Started out with something else and ended up with a tractrix? Anyway, still taking measurements and making calculations.

The horn came with a custom made adapter flange for a JBL type driver. Just so happened that my Axi2050 mounted just fine.

What are your thoughts to how low they go?

Very cool looking. They look like a great match to 15" woofers and kind of remind me of the big Shindo's.

In the presentation "Acoustical horns and waveguides" by Jean-Michel Le Cl'each, there is a slide showing the Klangfilm horn with acoustic lens at the mouth. Can't read German. But, I suspect the idea is to minimize beaming of the higher frequencies.

Dear Boly46. You bore me. And Jean-Michel Le Cléac'h's ETF 2010 page 78 doesn't make it any more correct either.
I wish you a good time.

A couple of Klangfilm horn head-scratchers.

In the US and elsewhere, the male threads are on the driver and the female threads are on the horns. The Klangfilm took the opposite approach to mounting the driver. An M80 adapter with the male threads is mounted to the back of the horn via four tapped holes. Then, the driver screws onto the adapter.

Also, the opening in the adapter is smaller than the horn throat.

No idea why.
