Hey Gang!

I have no idea why I am doing this but I am selling my pride and joy. Klyne SK6L with phono stage installed. Fantastic preamp! The phono stage is the best I have had in my system. It's almost infinitely configurable and sounds great. Up to 63db of gain! It's a great MC stage. Or turn it down and use a SUT. This is the black version which looks like a dark charcoal. I took a couple photos but it's tough to get a good picture of the anodizing. There are a few small scratches on the top edge of the faceplate. I can and will take pictures for anyone interested.

I'm asking $1,300....

That said I am interested in some possible trades. Low hour carts are of interest, I'd be interested in a nice DAC or DAC + cash etc...

I'm located just outside of Madison, Wi and local pickup is encouraged.

I can vouch for this unit as... it was once mine! Fantastic preamp with an even more fantastic phono stage.

I guess I could have mentioned I got it from JohnVF. :) It's a seriously wonderful preamp that I had to talk him into selling.

I had one for awhile (hard for me to remember their model numbers, but it looked a lot like the one pictured here). Sounded great, very flexible, especially the phono options.

No kidding re: the interior. Mine came with a plexi top cover so that you could always see the party inside.

I went ahead and added a few more pictures. Yes the inside is practically industrial art.

I asked myself the same thing last night, I deleted the post twice before submitting it.

I have three preamps and one system now. We moved and with that move I gave up a dedicated listening room (which has been a blessing in disguise) so this stuff is just sitting. I was using it strictly as a phono stage for quite awhile. A friend gave me a set of populated boards to build a Pass Pearl II phono stage, so I don't need the phono portion anymore.

I am now concentrating on my main system in our living room (blessing in disguise is I now use this system every day) so I'd like to improve a few things and replace a couple items that are getting long in the tooth. The Klyne preamp is still working flawlessly and it's too damn good to just put on a shelf.

I am sure you are wondering what I am using if that's the case. I am currently using my Carver C-19 but am planning on swapping my DIY 12B4 preamp back into service for an A/B shootout. If I end up preferring the 12B4 (it did edge out the Klyne, it wasn't a cheap build) it will need some circuit modifcations to make it more wife friendly, which I don't currently have time to deal with.

I have no idea how or why this is still here! Having owned one, I can vouch that these are phenomenal Pre amps with killer phono cart loading capabilities.

I know where there's a nice DAC....

Thanks, and I agree it would even be a good deal if just used as a phono stage. I have to admit I'm already feeling a bit of sellers remorse.

I'm an idiot and had the dip switches set wrong. There are 40 of them on the phono board so I guess I shouldn't be TOO hard on myself.
Ooh - that could have been a sales point: "Our phono stage has more DIP switches than an Altair 8800"

(OK. So they are dual-position switches, not DIP switches, but it's still funny)

There are another 8? in there on the line stage portion.. The line stage also has selectable gain and choice between buffered and un-buffered output.

I still have a pdf of the manual for the Klyne System Six/6L/whatever it's called that goes into detail about how to set the phono stage up... it's quite a doozy to set up and there's still some trial and best-guess work/what sounds best to your ears, with it. But it has a fantastic phono stage.

If I had the money (or something good to trade) I'd be seriously interested, but my daughter starts college in the fall, so I'm having to dial back on any purchases (and I doubt I have anything to trade that you'd be interested in).
