Mastering Lab crossovers - worth it?

We have built a number of pairs of Altec crossovers in our shop. Either as upgraded restorations or full custom builds. In all cases the replacements were a dramatic improvement over the original factory units. The components in the originals are of a much lower quality level and because of the age in most cases drifted pretty far from the original specs. Using higher quality components and lower gauge "Air Core" inductors makes the Altec Drivers come alive. Current building our second pair of 16ohm 604 networks based on a slightly modified Master Labs network posted in a reply to this thread. Will try and post some pictures soon.

The two pictures are of a Restored/Upgraded Altec Model 19 pair. Will post more soon.

No but if we can find the original networks I am sure that an upgrade would be in your future.
Please lat me know how to reach you directly.

Thanks Dutch

Hello ! I have a question - I assembled a sample for 604 E according to the original scheme, after a while it is recommended to me to recommend 14uf Bosch oil ones, replace Jupiter foil with 15uf15032077_1146985455378899_6692830359182903567_n.jpg. What can I look at?

They don’t seem to do copper ones in that size, not sure these would be any better than the bosch.

if you really want copper you could email the guy in charge (Christopher I think), website: Jupiter Condenser

May I suggest an easy and inexpensive change? Replace those Duelund resistors with Mills 12w wirewound resistors of the same value. A few years back I spent a long time comparing resistors in crossovers and the Mills 12w came out on top by a wide margin. Among the also-ran resistors were Duelund CAST copper and silver as well as Path Audio.

Of course you may reach a different conclusion but if that happens just put the Duelunds back in. All I am saying is I would make sure the resistors are keepers before you start comparing expensive capacitors.

Thanks for the offer, but I liked Duelund more))). I'll wait for the reviews for the publication before buying expensive capacitors, we have a war, a lot of destruction and shelling, there may be no electricity in winter, so you have to think ...
Hang in there man, things will turn, it has to get better in due time.
