Greetings to you all! I've been following 'The Haven' for awhile, and thought I should join the fun. Been at the hi-fi thing since the '70's when I heard a Linn/Quad set-up. Many years as a musician plus engineering and producing records followed until my recent retirement. At the moment my system is:
Thorens TD-124 Mk1
Jelco 550L
Ortofon SPU #1E & Mono GM MkII
Parks Audio Budgie SUT w/Cinemag XFormers
Jolida JD9 with upgrades and Mullard 12AT7s
Elekit TU-8500 with upgrades
Don Garber fi X 2A3 (usually running 45s and an 80 rectifier)
Ocellia Calliope 1.6 Signature speakers
Cables are a mix of DIY silver ICs and CAT6 speaker cables
Also, a Rega Jupiter CD player and Bluesound Node2i
After years (decades, actually!) with a Linn, CJ amps and modded Quad 63's, I developed a sort of virtual kinship with Art Dudley and followed his path to idlers, long arms, SET amps and single driver speakers. The difference in presentation is pretty astounding, and I'm really enjoying my listening these days.
Next, I'm hoping to get ahold of one of Don Garber's preamps with a phono stage. Anybody out there?
Well, thanks for having me and I hope to be able to contribute to this wonderful forum!
Oh, yeah...pics are on the way.
