Altec 608 Bass Reflex Speakers

Does anyone on the forum know anything about this cabinet? It's a nice looking piece of furniture, yes, but what does it sound like? I just bought a pair of Werner Jagush xovers for Altec 605s and was looking to put them to use. I have the pair of 612s I had built using Markwart crossovers but I saw this cool 608 on eBay

So I was able to find out a little bit about this cabinet going through some old Altec catalogs. It dates to the mid 1950s and is pretty rare. It was their most expensive home cabinet at $178 which is about $2k today. Cabinet did not include drivers or network. It was available in Blond or Mahogany and had a 5" wooden stand you could purchase for it. The cabinet could be set up either horizontally or vertically. It was about 2.5 cu ft larger than the 612 so I assume it plays lower.

There are a couple of youtube videos online of the 608 with 605A driver ans N-1600 network. I just bought the WJ autoformer crossover for the 605 and I thought these might sound really good with the upgraded crossover, better wire and connectors. The seller wants a lot for them but it might turn out to sound even better than my 612/605s and be a nice collectible/display piece.

Thanks. That's beautiful. Too bad for me it's in Japan. I was getting my information directly from the Altec catalog. Maybe this one is post catalog blurb. In any event, I would love to have one in my home.
