Latest Andrew Jones MoFi speakers - sale

I didn't hear the 8. But I just heard the new 8.8.8 tower. 😯 Bass has entered the chat.

Any chance you were able to hear the 8 later in the day? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

I've heard the 8 at one of our local audio meetups. They sound really good and have a decent amount of bass.

If you're in a smaller room, and like the wide band driver sound, which to me is more focused, then you should go for it.

I think they're great speakers for the money.

No chance so far. The room only had the 8.8.8 tower hooked up when I visited Friday, and yesterday the room was so slammed that I couldn't even get in the door. I have one last chance today to see if they hook up the 8s (they had the 8s and the 10s in the room). I'm not much for dynamic drivers to be honest, but the towers had a nice presentation. Jones likes that "concentric" driver approach and I can see (hear) why. It just plain works right.

Nope. Appears they're only doing demos of the upcoming tower. I saw at least four of the 8s around, but none were hooked up or being demonstrated.

I will let you know how it works out.
I'll be awaiting your Full Report™. They probably need some time to break in fully, but they should be rather nice sounding. I'm a bit disappointed that nobody had a demo of these at the show...

We're going to need a detailed ETA and countdown to your review :).

What will these be the potential substitutes for?

ETA is this Wednesday late in the day. I'll be looking out the front window for a brown truck all day like you were with your cool preamp. (smile)

The specs say these speakers weigh in at just under 28 pounds each. But the tracking notice says there are two boxes for a total shipping weight of 74 pounds. So I expect them to be well packaged.

They are replacing in my smallish loft space the earlier Andrew Jones Elac B6 bookshelves. So I expect a big improvement in SQ in all areas with the Sharepoint 8 having a much superior cabinet and drivers. We shall see.

I'm pretty excited.

It'll be interesting to see what threads continue through the Andrew Jones connection. I heard the larger ones at Axpona but they were set up strangely (really low to the floor on angled risers) and playing very badly recorded 1990s alt music. I couldn't get a feel for them and didn't feel like sticking it out through that music to hear something else. Plus they were the bigger ones and I'm more interested in the ones you bought.

That's one thing I wouldn't like--speakers so close to the floor. And I'm surprised they would have been set up that way for a demo. My ears listen to the music, not my knees. Getting them up high on proper stands most likely improves the soundstage and clarifies the sound substantially, getting away from the "mud" being in close proximity to the floor. At least, that's what I found in my systems over the years. (If I wanted bass reinforcement, I would more likely place them at ear level, but tune them with a certain distance from the rear wall. And I think these are vented, and to the rear...? I'd have to look.)

It would be cool if there were such a thing as sturdy, adjustable stands, so the height could be dialed in to our liking.

I wish I could remember his "formula." It was something like, you could have high efficiency, something, something else...pick two of the three.
Efficiency, Size or bass. One is always sacrificed. Although it's getting better. As 240 identified, Hoffmans Iron Law.
