The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

....like the old commercial had it, has to be back to school time. This year, all 3 grandkids are off to school by 8:30am, leaving me until
around 3 pm or so to actually listen to LPs, or just music on any platform at 'normal' levels. Heck, I might actually be able to play host to any local folks(you KNOW who you are!) were they to be in the area during daytime hours. By 4 pm, chaos returns, full-on.

Pretty nice! No grandkids yet but the youngest daughter is in a pretty serious relationship. I predict it won't be long now.

But I do have one question, is "normal volume" Aerosmith volume or Ray Brown volume? 😄😄

I'll have to ask Mike if he can get away for a spell as he wants to hear the tritons and the AT. If not, I've got this info recorded. I need to get down there to pick up some KG4s a friend has done some work on. Need to put that water pump in the Jeep first. Gonna be hard to haul KG4s comfortably in a sedan.

normally, more Ray Brownish. I am bad at guessing decibel levels, but think of the sound pressure of about mid-room in a moderate sized jazz club.
Having worked stage for Messrs Perry, Tyler et al, I am pretty aware of what Aerosmith Volume sounds like. My ears still remind me of the folly......

Very cool job working stage for Aerosmith!!:smoke Sorry about your ears though. It doesn't take many concerts at those volume levels to cause craploads of issues as we get older. I'm lucky....just a bit tinnitus in the left ear.

about what I'm dealing with, and have been for years. Some hearing loss, mild tinnitus, wouldn't trade my misspent youth(worked some shows for a few bands, but Aerosmith and Mountain were particularly loud). Being good-sized, I got front of stage duty after setup, preventing stage rushes. That generally put you in the shadow of a rather large PA speaker array.

There is so much live music in the Phila area, Tom is that were you did your time working gigs?, that I have a few neighbors that have lengthy tales of all the groups they assisted and whatever else happened.

nah, I was up in New England getting edumacated at the time. My dad knew someone at Columbia, so I grabbed a short tour gig with Mountain out of this area(up and down East Coast for 4 weeks). The rest of my stage work was from my time on the Entertainment Committee in college. Aerosmith was a local band when I started at UNH, they played the student union every other weekend. I did the heavier stage work for them when they were at the end of the Get Your Wings world tour and returned to UNH and BU where it all started.
