The Den of the Mid Century Moderneers.

I think somebody must've bought that 60pc set as I don't see it now. There's a $1500 set but its just an incomplete bunch of bowls and plates.
That's probably it. I didn't click through to see what it was (set vs. pieces).

Someone has $6K worth of stuff posted on Etsy but again, it's not so much a set as it is dozens of pieces that they will offer individually to whoever wants them.

Well, MCM is in its way out as a trend (finally!) and a “clash of styles” (a better way of saying post-modernism) seems to be what’s next. So you’d be trendy!
Just saw this new offering from ruark. The R410 Integrated Music System. Definitely 1970s vibe (post modernism?). Compared to my wife’s 1970s era General Electric Electronic Digital FM/AM Clock Radio.

I don't know anything about Ruark but that looks better than my HK Onyx streaming thing that looks like a weird little blue satellite dish.

Ruark were speaker manufacturers that started branching out a bit with other products around 2006.

I'm not sure how I've missed them all these years, though it seems they switched primarily to bluetooth devices around the time I really got into stereo stuff. I really like the look of their products.

I ran across them while I was obsessively researching powered/active speakers for my desk. I really liked the looks of them but ended up going for something a bit larger.

People that live in glass houses shouldn’t.
I don’t know. I’m ok with her living in a glass house. Other people not so much but, you know, I don’t want to throw stones or anything.

On that note, for a few years I lived in a high rise with floor to ceiling windows all around, facing the Hyatt hotel with its window. I …kept my shades down most nights. Those people in the hotel …often did not. And let me just say it’s inversely proportional to who you’d rather it be.

It was …interesting? To the point that as soon as I could I moved across the hall to face the river.

I used to see a couple of similar houses along the lake, but the 1%-ers tore them down to put up generic, oversized mansions.

Also I think this is the tree:

The original photo shoot was commissioned by a modern christmas tree company.

Here is some background (warning: lots of pop-ups)

Merry, Merry,

This Gerald Thurston for Laurel wishbone-lamp has been an ongoing project. I bought the base/stem and had the shade custom made. And last week found the diffuser on eBay.
Interesting in that I own the same LP (if that's the recent Craft Recordings version).

I had wanted to get one of those "atomic era" cat t-shirts from Amazon but decided against it--I have already subsidized the t-shirt economies of Utah and Colorado heavily, so I had to pass.

But I found some cool things on Etsy. Not legit MCM of course, but I always liked that artistic style. Hopefully Santa will bring a few my way (if that fat f**k can get down the chimney...as I like to say here... 😁). The clash is that I have a Southwest theme going, so MCM doesn't exactly fit. Except for this. Cacti, and all that.

The closest I have now is a Mr. Lucky album cover up on the wall. I always liked this cover even back when I was a kidlet.

Most of our MCM is 'legit' but I'm not against new designs, like the tiki owl pillow. Because I don't really want a 1950s pillow filled with 70 years of bedbugs.

And yes I think that Bill Evans album is the same as what you have. The Kevin Gray mastered one? I bought it used but it appears to be recent. Great album. I think I'll listen to it right now...

I love those cats. I used to have the wall decor ones that were popular in the 50s or 60s, three different ones in three different sizes, but I gave them to a friend as a housewarming gift. They just got divorced... hmmm... I think if you give a couple a housewarming gift and they break up, they should be obliged to return the gift.
