Today's Rock/Hard Rock/Classic Rock Playlist

Looks like Hot Tuna 5/20/95 @ The Alladin (Schoeps CMC64>Sonosax SX-M2>Panasonic SV-255 taped by my friends who got me into taping) is still in Cali, along with the rest of (>90%) my collection, Bose 601-2 speakers, Velodyne sub, Fostex D5, and Musical Fidelity X-ACT. Guess what I was in Vegas for? I saw a heady couple hit wheel of fortune with their last 20. Ill never forget get that, talk about a miracle. Now to set up deck. Im getting excited for all the possibilities. Decisions, decisions...

In case you’re wondering, bass mod Oktava MC-012 (card caps)>Beyerdynamic MV-100 Pre/PS>Sony SBM-1 A>D>Sony TCD-D8 DAT. Hat in the cat style from The Spot(facing stage in front left of soundboard there was an elevated spot for one person, yes I was a human mic stand). I recently learned they tore it down, so sad to see one of my favorite stomping grounds no longer.

Here is the inside of a Technics SV-DA10. Its hard to see but the tape is partially loaded. Best bet may be to sacrifice the tape :panic and hope for the best.

Luckily I was able to fish the tape out with tweezers and a paperclip without too much problem(Sony 60ES has nightmare transport). Though Ill probably need to make diginoise/dropout notes on the liner. This is going back in the box and the next time it sees any light will be when my Tascam DA-P1 portable fails. I feel a lot better at least knowing that there is not a tape stuck in it. Miss my Fostex D5, that is a workhorse deck. I dont know if this had anything to do with it, but the next time before I try to play a dat, Im going to make sure the tape is tightly wound. They are better than cassettes in this regard, but it cant hurt to check since they have been sitting for so long and have made a number of moves. Everything DAT back to the basement. :)

Benny Harper :) (his 5-17-97 front row center master and perhaps my favorite recording of all time is what is stuck in the 60ES. He did the national anthem there too. Luckily its been cloned many times.)

Finally got around to replacing an old (quite old) favorite of mine, that had irreparably gotten warped decades ago. Although this version is a few years later (1977) issue than my original from 1973.

yes! captain beyond is one of the best unknown / under-known hard rock bands. the upside is that the records are not expensive (except the version with the 3D cover).

Various Artist's ~ Flashback Greats of the Sixties (1972, 1973, K-Tel Intl.) 4 disc set, 48 songs, all perfectly mastered and pressed!

"And now for something completely different:"

Dug out from the stash, and cleaned. This was either mine, or my wife's when we were a tad bit younger...1976. 😊

Blue Oyster Cult - Tattoo Vampire, on Columbia 3-10384, ZSS 161956; 7" 45rpm.

more props for capt beyond. imho, this is the best captain beyond record and highly recommended to classic rock fans who have not heard it.
Thank you, and I agree. To me, it typifies the time period it represents.
